Do the kids need any previous drawing or art experience?

Absolutely! Our youth workshops are designed for everyone, regardless of artistic background. Our professional crew starts with the very basics, showing you how to hold the can and control the pressure. Within minutes, you'll be making clean lines and shapes. We focus on progress and confidence-building, ensuring every participant leaves with a piece of art they are genuinely proud of. It's about the process, not just perfection.

Is the graffiti workshop safe for teenagers?

Safety is our number one priority. We provide all necessary protective equipment, including high-quality FFP2-style masks to prevent paint inhalation, disposable gloves, and protective overalls to keep clothes clean. Our workshops are held in well-ventilated outdoor spaces or specially designed indoor areas. Our mentors are experienced professionals who supervise the group closely at all times to ensure the spray cans are used responsibly and safely.

How long does a typical youth workshop last?

A typical workshop for youth groups in Dornbirn lasts between 1.5 and 2.5 hours. This includes the introductory safety briefing, sketch design time, technique practice, and the final painting session. We find this is the 'sweet spot' where energy remains high and everyone stays focused. For larger community projects or mural sessions, we can extend this to a half-day or full-day experience to allow for more detail.

What should the participants wear to the session?

We recommend wearing comfortable, older clothes and sturdy shoes like trainers. Even though we provide protective overalls and gloves, graffiti can be a bit messy, and there is always a small chance of a stray paint splash. It's best to wear something you wouldn't mind getting a tiny bit of colour on! Dressing for the weather is also important, as many of our best spots in Vorarlberg are outdoors.

Can you host the workshop at our local youth centre?

We are incredibly flexible! We can host the workshop at one of our curated street art locations in Dornbirn, or we can bring the entire mobile studio to your youth centre, school, or community park. We use portable tensioned plastic walls or large canvases if there isn't a permanent wall available. As long as we have a bit of open space and fresh air, we can make the magic happen almost anywhere.

Do the participants get to keep their artwork?

Yes, they do! While we often work on large collaborative murals where the group creates one massive masterpiece together, we also offer options where individuals or small teams can paint on their own canvases or boards. These can then be taken home or displayed at your facility. It’s a fantastic way for the participants to have a permanent memento of their creative achievement in Dornbirn.

Does this workshop encourage illegal graffiti or vandalism?

Graffitifun focuses on 'Street Art' as a positive, legal, and constructive form of expression. During the workshop, our artists talk about the history of the culture and the importance of respecting public property. We teach them that professional artists use legal 'Halls of Fame' and commissions. By providing a legal outlet for their energy, we actually help reduce illegal tagging by teaching them the 'right' way to be an artist.

Local culture

Dornbirn is a city that perfectly blends tradition with a modern, industrial edge—making it the ideal backdrop for a street art revolution. We embrace the "Ländle" spirit, bringing urban creativity to the heart of Vorarlberg. Whether we are setting up near the contemporary architecture of the Kunsthaus or finding inspiration in the natural beauty of the Rappenlochschlucht, our workshops connect young people to their local environment in a whole new way. Street art in Dornbirn is about community pride and giving the younger generation a voice in their city's visual landscape.

Fun Fact: Did you know that Dornbirn is known as the "Garden City"? We love adding a bit of "urban flora" to the city by using bright, floral colours in our youth murals to reflect the local greenery! 🌻
