How it works

Introduction & Safety: We kick things off with a high-energy intro about the roots of street art and a vital safety briefing on how to use the gear.
Sketching the Vision: The group brainstorms a theme and sketches out their ideas on paper to plan the flow of the mural.
The First Spray: Participants grab their cans and learn basic techniques like 'fading', 'outlining', and 'filling' on practice surfaces.
Creating the Outline: Our lead artist helps the team scale up their design onto the main workshop wall in Lae.
Adding the Colour: This is where the magic happens! Everyone gets stuck in, layering vibrant colours and textures into the piece.
Fine Details: Using specialized caps, we add highlights, shadows, and crisp outlines to make the artwork pop.
The Big Reveal: We finish by tidying up the edges and stepping back to admire the collective masterpiece created by the team.

Frequently asked questions

Do the participants need any prior art experience?

Absolutely! Our youth projects in Lae are designed specifically for beginners. Our professional artists start with the basics of spray can control and safety before moving on to more complex techniques. We provide a supportive environment where making mistakes is just part of the creative process. No prior art experience is needed to create something amazing!

What safety measures do you have in place?

Safety is our top priority. We provide all necessary protective equipment, including high-quality FFP3 masks, gloves, and protective suits. Our workshops are held in well-ventilated outdoor or semi-outdoor spaces in Lae. Additionally, our instructors are trained professionals who supervise every step of the spraying process to ensure a safe and fun environment for everyone.

How long does a typical youth graffiti project last?

A typical youth workshop lasts between 1.5 and 3 hours. This gives us enough time for an introduction to street art history, a demonstration of techniques, individual practice, and the completion of a final group masterpiece. We can also adapt the duration to fit into a specific school schedule or community event timeline.

Where in Lae do these workshops take place?

We bring the workshop to you! We can set up at youth centres, school playgrounds, or community parks across Lae. We use mobile plastic film 'walls' to create a temporary canvas, meaning we don't need a permanent wall to get started. This flexibility allows us to transform almost any outdoor space into an urban art studio.

Do we have to pay in advance?

We believe in trust and flexibility. You don't need to pay anything upfront when booking your youth project. Payment is only settled after the workshop is completed and you are 100% satisfied with the experience. This ensures that you can book with total peace of mind, knowing the quality of the event is guaranteed.

What materials are included in the workshop?

We provide everything! This includes premium spray paint in a huge variety of colours, various nozzle sizes (caps) for different effects, protective gear, and the training surfaces. Participants just need to wear old clothes and shoes they don't mind getting a bit of paint on—even with protective suits, graffiti can be a messy business!

Is this activity suitable for group team building?

Yes, our graffiti youth projects are fantastic for team building. Graffiti is a collaborative art form by nature. Participants have to communicate, plan their layout together, and respect each other's space on the 'wall'. It’s a brilliant way to break down social barriers and build confidence within a group of young people.
