How long does a team development graffiti workshop last?

A standard team development workshop in Christchurch typically runs for about 2 to 2.5 hours. This timeframe allows enough space for a proper introduction, safety briefing, technique practice on the practice walls, and the final creation of your team's masterpiece. We can also customise the duration to fit into a tighter conference schedule or expand it for a full-day 'deep dive' creative retreat.

Do we need any previous art experience to participate?

Not at all! Our professional graffiti artists are experts at guiding absolute beginners. We start with the basics—how to hold the can, pressure control, and simple lines—before moving on to more complex techniques. You’ll be surprised at how quickly your team goes from 'I can't draw' to creating something truly impressive. It’s all about the process and having a laugh together while learning something new.

What should we wear and do you provide protective gear?

We’ve got you covered. We provide high-quality protective overalls, gloves, and masks for every participant. While our spray paint is professional grade, we always recommend wearing 'work clothes' or items you don't mind getting a tiny bit of paint on, just in case. Most of the paint stays on the wall or the canvas, but it's better to be safe while you're getting stuck in!

Can the workshop be held indoors if the weather is typical 'Garden City' rain?

Absolutely! Christchurch has some fantastic outdoor spots, but we also have access to great indoor venues across the city that are well-ventilated and suitable for spray painting. This means your team building event can go ahead rain or shine. If you have a specific venue in mind, like your own office car park or a warehouse, let us know and we can usually make it work!

What is the minimum and maximum group size for a Christchurch event?

Our workshops are highly scalable. We can cater to small intimate teams of 10 or large corporate groups of up to 100+ people. For larger groups, we bring in additional artist-mentors to ensure everyone gets plenty of hands-on guidance and nobody is left standing around. We split large groups into smaller 'crews' to keep the energy high and the collaboration focused.

What is your booking and cancellation policy for corporate teams?

We understand that corporate plans can change. That’s why we offer a 'pay after the workshop' policy for most bookings, giving you ultimate peace of mind. No upfront payment is required to lock in your date. We also have a network of backup artists ready to go, so you never have to worry about a cancellation from our end. Your event's success is our top priority.

Can you help us organise catering or a venue for our team day?

We can certainly help with that! While we provide the artistic expertise, we can point you toward some of our favourite local Christchurch caterers or venues that offer both great workshop spaces and excellent food and drink options. Whether you want a casual BBQ alongside the graffiti wall or a more formal lunch after the session, we can help coordinate the perfect day.

The experience

Why choose a graffiti workshop for your next team development session? It’s simple: it levels the playing field. In front of a blank wall, job titles don't matter—only creativity and collaboration do. Here’s why Christchurch teams love it:

Break Down Silos: Watch barriers dissolve as the CEO and the intern work side-by-side on the same piece of art. 🤝
Boost Creative Problem Solving: Street art requires quick thinking and adapting to the medium—skills that translate perfectly to the office.
Tangible Results: You’ll finish the day with a physical mural (or canvases) that serves as a lasting reminder of your team's unity. 🏆
Stress Relief: There is something incredibly therapeutic about the 'hiss' of a spray can and the flow of colour. It’s the ultimate mental reset!
Professional Guidance: You’re not just 'messing around'; you’re being taught by some of the best street artists in NZ.
Unique NZ Vibes: Support the local artistic community while giving your staff an experience they’ll actually talk about at the weekend. 🎤

Looking for something different? We also offer school workshops, festival activations, bachelor parties, brand activations, kids parties, and mind-blowing 3D street art projects!

Step by step

The Briefing: Meet your artist-mentor and get the lowdown on the workshop flow and safety essentials.
Concept Brainstorm: Work together to define your 'crew' identity or a theme that represents your company's goals.
Can Control 101: Learn the professional secrets of nozzle control, distance, and creating 'fat' or 'skinny' lines.
Sketching the Vision: Watch as your ideas are blocked out on the wall or canvas, ready for the team to fill in.
The Big Fill: Everyone grabs a can! This is where the energy happens as the colours start to pop.
Detailing & Outlining: Our artists help you add those sharp outlines and highlights that make the art 'jump' off the wall.
Character Building: Add unique tags or 'steez' (style) to the piece that represent individual team members.
The Grand Reveal: Step back as a group to admire the completed mural—a perfect photo op for the company newsletter!
Clean Up & Debrief: Ditch the overalls and chat about the experience over a cold drink.

Local culture

Christchurch is the perfect backdrop for a graffiti experience. Since 2011, the city has transformed into a global street art capital, with massive murals decorating the sides of buildings throughout the central city. Our workshops tap into this local 'Can-Do' attitude, channelling the creative energy found in spots like the SALT District. We often draw inspiration from the city's innovative rebuild and its natural beauty, from the Avon River to the Port Hills. 🏔️

Fun Fact: Did you know Christchurch was named one of the top cities in the world for street art by several international travel guides? You'll be learning your new skills in a city that truly respects the craft! 🏆

In addition to Christchurch, we also bring our creative workshops to other hubs including Auckland, Wellington, Hamilton, and Queenstown.
