How does a graffiti workshop help prevent vandalism?

Our anti-vandalism program in Sheffield is designed to reshape the way people view street art. Instead of seeing it as a nuisance, we teach participants how to use graffiti as a positive, creative outlet. By providing legal spaces and professional instruction, we channel that energy into beautiful murals, reducing the urge to spray illegally on private property. It’s about respect for the city and self-expression.

Is the workshop safe for younger participants?

Absolutely! Our workshops are led by professional artists who prioritise safety. We provide all necessary protective gear, including high-quality masks, gloves, and overalls to keep everyone clean and safe. We use high-grade spray paint in well-ventilated outdoor areas or specially designated zones in Sheffield, ensuring a secure environment for all participants to enjoy their creative journey without any risks.

What materials are included in the session?

We provide everything you need! This includes a wide range of premium spray paint colours, protective equipment (masks, gloves, and suits), and the surfaces we’ll be painting on. For our anti-vandalism programs, we often provide large boards or designated wall spaces. You just need to show up in comfortable clothes that you don't mind getting a little dusty—we take care of the rest.

What happens if it rains during our outdoor workshop?

While we love the grit of Sheffield's street art scene, we have backup plans for everything. If the British weather decides to be particularly 'Sheffield,' we have access to covered outdoor areas or indoor venues where we can use low-odour, water-based spray paints. We also have a large team of backup artists, so your session will never be cancelled due to staff illness.

How long does the workshop experience last?

A standard anti-vandalism workshop usually runs for about 2 hours. This gives us enough time to cover the history of street art, learn basic can control techniques, and complete a large-scale collaborative mural. If you have a specific timeframe in mind, we can easily customise the session length to fit your schedule, whether it's a quick 90-minute taster or a full-day intensive project.

What is the minimum and maximum group size?

We are very flexible! We can host small groups of 10 or large-scale community events with over 100 participants. For larger groups in Sheffield, we bring in extra professional artists to ensure everyone gets hands-on guidance and remains engaged throughout the process. No matter the size of your group, we make sure the atmosphere remains personal, energetic, and, most importantly, fun for everyone involved.

Do I need to have any drawing or painting skills?

No artistic talent is required at all! Our professional graffiti artists are experts at teaching the basics to total beginners. We start with simple lines and shapes, gradually building up to more complex designs. You’ll be amazed at how quickly you can create something that looks professional. It’s all about the experience, the energy, and the process of creating something together as a team.

Step by step

The legal talk: We discuss the difference between vandalism and street art, focusing on how to find legal spots in Sheffield to paint.
Can control basics: Our pros show you how to hold the can, swap nozzles, and create different line thicknesses.
The 'Tag' creator: Participants practice their own unique signature or 'tag' on practice boards to get a feel for the flow.
Sketching the mural: We work together to sketch out a large-scale positive message or design that represents the community.
Filling and fading: Learn how to fill in large areas efficiently and how to blend colours for that classic 'gradient' effect.
Outlining and highlights: The moment it all comes together! Add sharp outlines and white highlights to make the art pop.
Final reveal and photos: We step back to admire the collective masterpiece and take plenty of photos for the 'gram.

Local culture

Sheffield has a long and storied history with street art, from the iconic murals in the Antiques Quarter to the ever-evolving walls of Park Hill. The city’s industrial backdrop provides the perfect canvas for urban expression. We take pride in contributing to Sheffield's creative soul by teaching the next generation of artists how to respect their environment while still making a huge visual impact. Our workshops celebrate the 'Steel City' grit while promoting a cleaner, more artistic urban landscape. ✨
