What kind of surfaces can you paint on during an event?

Live painting in Johannesburg is incredibly versatile! Our artists can create stunning works on traditional canvases, large-scale wooden panels, temporary walls, or even vehicles and clothing. If you have a specific surface in mind for your Jozi event, just let us know. We bring all the necessary preparation materials to ensure the paint adheres perfectly and looks professional from the first spray to the final highlight.

Is it safe and clean to have live painting indoors?

Safety and cleanliness are our top priorities. We use high-quality spray paints and provide floor protection to ensure your venue remains spotless. For indoor events in Johannesburg, we recommend well-ventilated spaces or the use of low-odour water-based paints. Our artists are professionals who manage their workspace efficiently, leaving only the beautiful artwork behind once the performance is finished and the paint is dry.

How long does a typical live painting session last?

The duration is entirely up to you! Most live painting performances in Johannesburg last between 2 and 5 hours, aligning with the peak energy of your event. We can pace the artwork to ensure the 'big reveal' happens exactly when you want it to, whether that's during a keynote speech or the final wrap-up of a festival. We work around your schedule to maximise impact.

Can the artist include our company logo or a specific theme?

Absolutely! That is one of our specialities. We love incorporating company logos, specific brand colours, or event themes into the mural. During the briefing process, you can share your brand guidelines or vision with us, and our artists will weave these elements into a creative, street-art style masterpiece that resonates with your Johannesburg audience while staying true to your brand identity.

Do guests get to participate in the painting?

While the artist does the heavy lifting, we can certainly arrange for an interactive element! We often set up a 'guest wall' nearby where attendees can try their hand at tagging under professional guidance. This creates a brilliant 'braai-side' buzz where guests feel part of the creative process without interrupting the main live performance. It’s a fantastic way to keep the energy high.

What happens if the artist is unavailable at the last minute?

We’ve got you covered. Graffitifun works with a deep bench of talented professional artists across South Africa. If your primary artist has an emergency, we have backup artists ready to step in so your Johannesburg event goes off without a hitch. You can book with total peace of mind knowing that the show will definitely go on!

Do I need to provide any materials for the artist?

Not at all! We handle the entire logistics chain. From providing the paint and protective gear to setting up the canvases or mobile walls, our team takes care of everything. All we need from you is a designated space and a vibe! Once the event is over, you can choose to keep the artwork for your office or have us handle the removal. It’s a totally hassle-free experience.

Creative collaboration during a graffiti company outing

Local culture

Johannesburg is arguably the street art capital of Africa. From the towering murals of Newtown to the hidden gems in Maboneng and Braamfontein, Jozi's walls tell stories of resilience, diversity, and creative fire. Our artists are deeply rooted in this local culture, drawing inspiration from the city's unique "Gold Reef" hustle. When you book a live painting session here, you aren't just getting a performance; you're getting a slice of the authentic Johannesburg spirit. ✨

Fun Fact: Did you know that Johannesburg is home to one of the largest urban forests in the world? Many of our local graffiti artists use this "concrete jungle" vs "green jungle" contrast as inspiration for their live mural work! 🌳🎨
