Is the graffiti workshop safe for primary school children?

Absolutely! At Graffitifun, safety is our main priority. We provide high-quality protective overalls, gloves, and specialised masks designed for children. Our professional instructors use low-pressure spray cans that are easier for smaller hands to control, and we always work in well-ventilated outdoor environments or spacious indoor areas to ensure a safe, fun, and healthy atmosphere for every student in Athens.

What is the minimum age for participation?

Ideally, we recommend our workshops for children aged 8 and up (Key Stage 2). At this age, they have the motor skills to press the spray nozzles and the focus to follow safety instructions. However, we can adapt the session for slightly younger groups by using more stencils and water-based markers to ensure everyone can participate regardless of their age or ability level.

Do we need to travel to a studio or do you come to our school?

We are fully mobile! Most of our Athens primary school workshops take place right on the school grounds, such as in the playground or a sports hall. If your school doesn't have a suitable space, we can help arrange a session at a legal graffiti zone or a local community centre nearby. We bring all the boards and protective floor coverings to keep your premises clean.

Do the students need to have any prior drawing skills?

Not at all! One of the best things about graffiti is that it’s accessible to everyone. Our artists guide the students through the entire process, from basic shapes to complex letter outlines. We focus on building confidence and showing kids that 'mistakes' in street art are just part of the creative process. Every child will leave feeling proud of what they’ve created.

What should the children wear and bring on the day?

We recommend that students wear old clothes and trainers that they don't mind getting a bit of paint on. While we provide full-body protective suits and gloves, graffiti can be a messy business! We also suggest bringing a water bottle and plenty of enthusiasm. We take care of all the professional equipment, including the paint, caps, boards, and safety gear.

What happens if we need to cancel or the artist is sick?

We offer total flexibility to fit your school's schedule. You don't need to pay anything upfront when booking; we handle the payment after the workshop is successfully completed. Additionally, we have a pool of backup artists available, so if your assigned instructor is unwell, we will send a replacement to ensure your school event still goes ahead as planned.

The experience

Why choose a graffiti workshop for your primary school in Athens? It’s more than just painting; it’s about empowering young minds. Here are the benefits of booking with Graffitifun:

Boosts creative confidence: Graffiti allows children who might struggle with traditional fine art to find their voice in a bold, modern medium.
Promotes teamwork: Creating a large-scale mural requires collaboration, communication, and shared pride in a final result.
Safe and professional: We use specific low-pressure cans and high-grade safety gear tailored for primary school ages.
No financial risk: With our "pay after the workshop" policy, you can book with total peace of mind.
Qualified instructors: Our artists aren't just great painters; they are experienced mentors who know how to engage and manage large groups of energetic kids.
A lasting legacy: Whether it's a mural on your school wall or boards for the classroom, the art created serves as a lasting reminder of their achievement.

Step by step

Introduction and safety briefing: Our artists arrive at your Athens school and set up the workspace. We start with an engaging talk about graffiti history and an essential safety demonstration on how to use the equipment correctly.
Concept sketching: Students grab paper and pencils to brainstorm their ideas. They learn about "tags," "throw-ups," and "pieces," sketching out the designs they want to bring to life on the boards.
Can control practice: Before hitting the main project, kids practice basic spray techniques on a test surface. They learn how to control line thickness by adjusting their distance from the wall.
Outline and fill: The students begin applying their designs to the large wooden panels or plastic film. Our instructors help them fill in the large areas of colour smoothly and evenly.
The art of 3D and shadows: We teach the children how to add depth to their letters using simple 3D effects and drop shadows, making their artwork pop off the surface.
Adding the details: Using "skinny caps" for fine lines, the pupils add highlights and final details to perfect their masterpieces.
The grand reveal: Once the paint is dry, we remove the protective tape and step back to admire the collective mural. It’s a fantastic moment for group photos and student reflection.

Local culture

Athens is a world-renowned hub for street art, with neighbourhoods like Psirri and Exarcheia acting as living museums. By bringing a graffiti workshop to your primary school, you are connecting your students with the living heartbeat of their city. The Greek capital has a long history of public expression, and we help children understand the difference between respectful street art and vandalism.

In a city where ancient columns meet modern murals, your students will learn how to contribute to the visual landscape of Athens in a positive way. Our workshops often draw inspiration from the bright Mediterranean light and the bold colours found across the Attica region, encouraging kids to see their city through a fresh, artistic lens.

Pricing

Our Athens primary school workshops are competitively priced to ensure every school can access the world of street art. We believe in transparency and flexibility, which is why we don't require any upfront deposit.

Price range: €20 - €45 per student

The final cost depends on the number of participants, the duration of the session, and whether you want a permanent mural left on a school wall or portable boards for the kids to keep. For larger groups or multi-day projects, we offer special school discounts.
