Is the graffiti workshop safe for primary school children?

Safety is our absolute priority for primary school groups. We use low-pressure spray cans that are easier for smaller hands to control and provide high-quality FFP3 respiratory masks, gloves, and protective suits. Our artists are highly experienced in working with children, ensuring a supervised environment where every child feels safe, supported, and confident while exploring their artistic potential in Birmingham.

What is the minimum age for participants in Birmingham?

We typically recommend our workshops for children aged 6 and up (Key Stage 1 and 2). At this age, they have the motor skills needed to handle the cans and the focus to follow the creative process. We adapt our teaching style for different year groups, ensuring the activities are age-appropriate, engaging, and perfectly matched to their developmental stage.

Can you link the workshop to our current school curriculum?

Yes, our workshops are a fantastic way to support the national curriculum! We can focus on specific themes like 'The Romans', 'Environment', or 'Growth'. Beyond Art and Design, the workshops encourage teamwork, confidence, and fine motor skills. Many Birmingham teachers find that even the most disengaged students thrive when given a spray can and a big canvas.

Do you come to our school or do we need to travel?

Absolutely! We are fully mobile and can bring the entire graffiti experience to your school playground or sports hall. We use protective floor coverings to ensure your school grounds remain spotless. Alternatively, we can help arrange a session at a local Birmingham street art spot if you prefer an authentic 'legal wall' experience for your students.

What materials do we need to provide?

We provide everything! This includes a wide range of colourful spray cans, protective ponchos or suits, masks, gloves, and the canvases or boards. You don't need to worry about a thing. We even bring a backup artist for larger groups to ensure every child gets the one-on-one guidance they need to create something they are proud of.

How long does a typical school session last?

A standard primary school workshop usually lasts between 1.5 to 2 hours. This provides enough time for a safety briefing, a demonstration of techniques, individual practice, and the final creation of a large-scale mural or individual pieces. We can also adjust the timing to fit specifically into your school's morning or afternoon timetable slots.

How does the payment process work for schools?

We understand that school budgets can be tight. Unlike many providers, we don't require any upfront payment. You only pay after the workshop has been successfully completed and you are 100% satisfied with the experience. This takes the financial risk away from the school and ensures we are fully committed to delivering a brilliant day.

Boosts Creativity: Encourages children who might struggle with traditional art to find their voice.
Teamwork: Collaborative murals teach pupils how to work together towards a shared goal.
Confidence Building: Seeing a large-scale piece of art they helped create gives students a massive sense of achievement.
DBS Verified: All our Birmingham artists are fully vetted and experienced in working with primary-aged children.
Curriculum Support: We can tailor sessions to support Art, Design, History, or Wellbeing topics.
Stress-Free: We provide all equipment and protective gear, plus we handle the cleanup.

Step by step

Introduction & Safety: We start with a fun talk about street art history and a vital safety briefing on how to use equipment correctly.
Gear Up: Every student gets kitted out in protective gear, including masks and suits, to keep their school uniforms clean.
Basic Techniques: Our pro artists demonstrate how to make dots, lines, and fades using the spray cans.
Sketching Ideas: Students brainstorm and sketch their designs on paper, focusing on the day's specific theme or message.
First Sprays: Under close supervision, the children take their first turns on the practice boards to get a feel for the pressure.
The Masterpiece: The group works together or individually to fill in the large-scale mural with vibrant colours and bold outlines.
Adding Detail: We teach them how to add 'shines' and '3D effects' to make their artwork really pop off the wall.
Group Photo & Review: We celebrate the hard work with a group photo in front of the final piece and a quick chat about what they've learned.
