Is the graffiti workshop safe for secondary school students?

Absolutely. We use high quality low pressure spray cans that are easier to control and produce less fumes. Every student is provided with protective gloves, masks, and coveralls to keep their school uniforms or clothes clean. Our instructors start every session with a safety briefing to ensure everyone handles the equipment correctly and stays within the designated painting zones. Safety is our top priority throughout the entire creative process.

What happens if it rains on the day of the workshop?

While we love working outdoors in the beautiful Guadalajara sunshine, we always have a backup plan. If it rains, we can move the workshop under a covered area or use large indoor canvases with water based spray paints that are safe for interior use. Since we have a large team of backup artists, your event will never be cancelled due to staff illness. You are always in safe hands with Graffitifun.

Do students need to have prior drawing or painting skills?

Not at all. Our workshops are designed for all skill levels, from total beginners to budding young artists. Our professional street artists guide the students through every step, from basic lines to complex shading. We find that even students who claim they are not good at art end up creating something they are incredibly proud of by the end of the session. It is all about the process and having fun.

Where in Guadalajara does the workshop take place?

We are very flexible. We can host the workshop directly on your school grounds if you have an appropriate outdoor space or a well ventilated hall. If your school prefers an off site experience, we can help arrange a local spot in Guadalajara where students can paint. Usually, schools find it easiest for us to bring the mobile studio to them to save on transport costs and logistics.

How long does a typical school session last?

A standard workshop for secondary schools lasts between 1.5 to 3 hours. This gives the students enough time to learn the history of street art, practice their techniques, and complete a large scale masterpiece. We can also adapt the schedule to fit into your school timetable or double periods. Just let us know your requirements and we will build a schedule that works for your students and teachers.

What materials do we need to provide as a school?

We provide everything needed for a successful art day. This includes a wide variety of spray paint colours, caps, protective gear, masks, and the painting surfaces. We also bring sketching materials for the design phase. You do not need to worry about a thing. We just need access to the space and a group of enthusiastic students ready to get creative. We take care of all the setup and the cleanup afterwards too.

Do we have to pay in advance for the workshop?

We believe in our service so much that we do not ask for upfront payments. You can book your workshop date and confirm everything without paying a penny. Once the workshop is finished and your students have had an amazing time, you can settle the payment. This makes the administrative process much easier for schools and provides you with total peace of mind regarding the quality of our service.

Step by step

Introduction and history: We start with a high energy talk about the origins of graffiti and its evolution into modern street art.
Sketching the vision: Students grab pencils and paper to brainstorm their designs and understand the importance of layout and tag style.
Safety and gear: Everyone gets fitted with professional masks, gloves, and protective suits to ensure a clean and safe environment.
Can control basics: Our artists demonstrate how to hold the spray can, how to control pressure, and how to create different line widths.
Practice session: Students head to the practice boards to get a feel for the paint before starting on their final masterpiece.
Fill and fade: We teach the secrets of "filling in" letters and creating smooth colour gradients and fades.
The outline: This is where the art pops. Students learn how to add sharp outlines and "force fields" around their work.
Group mural completion: The team works together to add final details, highlights, and backgrounds to their collaborative street art piece.
Photo and cleanup: We take group photos with the artwork before our team handles all the site cleanup and packing.

Local culture

Guadalajara is a city that breathes art, from the historic murals of Orozco to the modern street art found in neighbourhoods like Americana and Santa Tere. Our workshops tap into this local creative spirit, showing students that they are part of a long tradition of visual storytelling in Mexico. We often draw inspiration from the bold colours and social themes found throughout the city streets. 🎨

Fun fact: Guadalajara is home to some of the most impressive legal graffiti walls in Mexico, thanks to local initiatives that encourage urban artists to transform grey spaces into vibrant galleries. This makes it the perfect backdrop for your students to discover their own creative voices. 🔥
