Do I need to be an expert artist to take this training?

Absolutely no prior graffiti experience is needed to join our Marting based training! We start with the absolute basics of spray can control and safety. Our goal is to give you the confidence to lead a class, regardless of your own artistic background. We focus on the 'how-to' of teaching English-style street art techniques, ensuring you leave with a solid foundation to share with your students.

What safety protocols will I learn for my students?

Safety is our number one priority, especially in a school setting. Our training covers the correct use of high-quality respiratory masks, nitrile gloves, and eco-friendly paint options. We teach you how to set up a safe outdoor or well-ventilated indoor workspace, how to manage student behaviour with spray cans, and how to properly dispose of materials. You'll feel fully equipped to run a risk-free session.

Is the training more theoretical or hands-on?

The workshop is highly practical. While we provide some theoretical handouts and digital resources, the majority of the time is spent with a spray can in hand. We believe educators learn best by doing. You'll practice various strokes, lettering styles, and filling techniques yourself so that you can effectively troubleshoot common mistakes that your students might make during your future lessons in Martin.

Do I receive a certification after the workshop?

Yes! Upon successful completion of the Art Teacher Training in Martin, you will receive a Graffitifun certificate. This serves as proof of your professional development and confirms that you have been trained in graffiti techniques and safety standards by professional artists. It’s a fantastic addition to your teaching portfolio and can help justify new creative initiatives within your department or school board.

What materials are included in the professional development session?

We provide everything you need for the day: professional-grade spray paints, various nozzles (caps), protective clothing, masks, and practice surfaces. You just need to wear comfortable clothes that you don't mind getting a bit of paint on. We also provide digital 'cheat sheets' and lesson plan templates that you can take home and use immediately in your next classroom project or art club.

How long does the training last and where is it held?

Duration is flexible but typically lasts between 2 to 4 hours. We understand teachers have busy schedules, so we can host these sessions during inset days, weekends, or even after-school hours. We can come to your school in Martin or host you at one of our local creative spaces. Just let us know what fits your schedule best, and we will make it happen!

Local culture

Martin has always been the heart of Slovak national culture, and we believe it’s the perfect place to foster a new generation of creative minds. While the city is famous for its historical museums and libraries, there is a growing appetite for contemporary urban expression. Our training sessions often take place near the scenic backdrop of the Mala Fatra mountains, blending traditional Slovak grit with modern artistic flair. 🏔️

Fun Fact: Martin was once the centre of the Slovak national movement, and today, you can find subtle hints of modern street art appearing in the local industrial zones, showing that the city’s revolutionary spirit is still alive in its art! 🇸🇰
