Do we need any prior art experience to participate?

Absolutely! Most participants in our Bloemfontein university workshops have never touched a spray can before. Our professional artists break down the process into simple, manageable steps. We start with basic lines and shapes before moving on to more complex fills and outlines. You will be amazed at the high-quality piece you can produce by the end of the session with just a little bit of guidance.

What materials are included in the workshop?

We provide everything you need for a successful creative session. This includes premium spray paint in a wide variety of colours, high-quality masks, protective gloves, and overalls to keep your clothes clean. We also provide the canvases or temporary walls and all necessary sketching materials. All you need to bring is your energy, some comfortable old shoes, and your creative spirit to the Bloemfontein workshop.

How long does a typical graffiti session last?

A standard university workshop in Bloemfontein typically lasts between 2 and 3 hours. This allows enough time for a safety briefing, an introduction to graffiti history, practicing basic techniques, sketching your design, and finally creating your masterpiece. We can also adjust the timing to fit into your society's schedule or a specific university orientation event if you require a shorter or longer session.

Is the graffiti workshop safe for students?

Safety is our number one priority. We use low-pressure spray cans which are easier to control and provide FFP2 high-quality respirators to ensure no one inhales fumes. Our artists are experienced professionals who supervise the group at all times. We also ensure the chosen location in Bloemfontein has adequate ventilation, making the experience safe and enjoyable for all students involved.

Can you host the workshop directly on our campus?

We are very flexible with locations! We can host the workshop at a dedicated street art spot in Bloemfontein, or we can bring the entire setup to your campus. If we work on campus, we use mobile wooden walls or large stretch canvases and protect the surrounding floors with drop cloths. This ensures we leave the university grounds exactly as we found them, just with more memories.

How does the payment process work for university groups?

We understand that student budgets and campus event planning can be complex. That is why we offer a 'pay after the workshop' policy. You don't need to worry about upfront deposits or lost funds. We simply invoice the university or the student society after the event is successfully completed. This ensures you are 100% satisfied with the experience before any payment is made.

Is this activity suitable for student team building?

Definitely! Graffiti is an excellent team-building activity for university clubs, residences, or faculty groups. It encourages communication, shared problem-solving, and collective creativity. Whether you are working on individual pieces that form a larger mural or one massive collaborative wall, the process of making art together helps forge stronger bonds among students in a relaxed, fun environment outside the lecture hall.

The experience

Why should your university group choose a graffiti workshop in the City of Roses? It’s not just about painting; it's about breaking boundaries and building community. Here is why we are the top choice for Bloemfontein students:

Total Creative Freedom: Unlike structured art classes, graffiti encourages you to go big and bold with zero judgment.
Stress Relief: There is something incredibly therapeutic about the hiss of a spray can and the flow of colours—the perfect antidote to exam stress.
Professional Guidance: You won't be left alone; our Bloem-based artists are pros who know exactly how to guide beginners.
No Financial Risk: With our 'pay afterwards' policy, your student society's funds are always safe.
On-Campus Convenience: We can set up in most outdoor university spaces, making it easy for students to join between lectures.
Unique Social Media Content: Let’s be real—your Instagram and TikTok will look incredible with shots of you creating epic street art.

Step by step

Introduction & Safety: Meet our local Bloemfontein graffiti artist and get briefed on the history of street art and essential safety protocols, including how to use your protective gear.
Nozzle Knowledge: Learn about different 'caps' or nozzles and how they change the spray width, from thin lines for detail to fat caps for filling large areas.
Can Control: Practice your first lines on a training wall. You'll learn the right distance to hold the can and the speed of movement needed to prevent drips.
Concept Sketching: Grab a marker or pencil and sketch your vision on paper. Our artists will help you refine your design so it works perfectly for a spray-paint medium.
The Outline: Take the leap and put your first lines onto the actual canvas or wall. This 'first sketch' with paint sets the foundation for your work.
Filling & Fading: Learn the 'fill-in' technique. This is where you add vibrant colours and try your hand at creating smooth gradients and transitions.
The Power Outline: Re-outline your design with a contrasting colour (usually black or white) to make the image pop and look professionally finished.
Highlights & Details: Add those final touches—shining highlights, 3D shadows, or 'bits' around the edges to give your piece that authentic street art flair.
Group Photo: Stand back and admire the collective work! We’ll take high-res photos of the group and their individual masterpieces for your social media.

Good to know

Local culture

Bloemfontein, or 'Bloem' as we locals love to call it, has a growing creative pulse that often surprises people. While it’s known as the City of Roses, there’s a gritty, artistic undercurrent flowing through areas like Westdene and the legal hubs. The street art scene here is intimate but full of heart, reflecting the diverse cultures of the Free State. Taking a graffiti workshop in Bloemfontein allows you to tap into this local vibe. We often draw inspiration from the city’s vast horizons and its mix of historical architecture and modern student life. Our workshops celebrate this unique identity, giving students a platform to leave their own (temporary!) mark on the city's evolving cultural landscape.

Pricing

Our university graffiti workshops in Bloemfontein are priced competitively to suit student budgets while maintaining premium quality. Prices generally range between R400 and R900 per person.

The final cost depends on the number of participants, the location (on-campus or at our site), and the specific materials required for your project. Remember, we don't require any upfront payment—you only pay after the workshop is done.
