Is the workshop safe for young people?

Absolutely! We provide high-quality masks, gloves, and protective overalls for all participants in our Bloemfontein youth projects. Safety is our top priority, and our professional artists ensure that everyone uses the spray cans correctly. We choose outdoor or well-ventilated locations in the Free State to ensure a safe environment where creativity can flourish without any health risks to the youth involved.

How long does a typical session last?

A standard youth project workshop usually lasts between 2 and 3 hours. This gives us enough time for a solid introduction, sketching phase, and the actual painting. However, for larger community initiatives or multi-day youth development programs in Bloemfontein, we can extend the duration or spread the project over several sessions to create a more detailed and impactful mural.

Do the kids need prior art experience?

Not at all! Our workshops are designed for absolute beginners. We start with the basics of 'can control' and simple lettering techniques. Our experienced artists guide participants step-by-step, ensuring that even those who have never picked up a spray can before feel confident. By the end of the day, everyone will have contributed something they can be proud of.

Where in Bloemfontein do the workshops take place?

We are highly flexible when it comes to locations in Bloemfontein. We can host the workshop at your community centre, school grounds, or a public wall (with the necessary permits). If you don't have a venue, we can help find a suitable legal graffiti spot in the city. We bring all the necessary gear to you, making the logistics simple.

What is the minimum age for participants?

We generally recommend our youth projects for ages 10 and up. At this age, children have the physical strength to handle the spray cans effectively and can follow the safety instructions well. For slightly younger groups, we can adapt the program with water-based markers or focus more on the collaborative design aspect to ensure everyone stays engaged and safe.

Do we need to pay in advance?

One of our biggest perks is our 'pay after' policy. You don't need to worry about upfront payments to secure your date. We believe in the quality of our service and want you to be 100% satisfied with the experience. Once the workshop in Bloemfontein is completed and the youth have had an amazing time, we will settle the invoice.

What is included in the package?

We provide everything needed for a successful street art experience. This includes a wide variety of professional spray paint colours, caps, gloves, masks, protective suits, and the surfaces to paint on (unless we are painting a permanent wall). We also bring sketches and inspiration sheets. You just need to bring your energy and wear clothes that you don't mind getting a bit of dust on.

Step by step

Introduction & Safety: We start with a brief history of graffiti culture and a vital safety demonstration on how to use the equipment responsibly.
Concept Brainstorming: The group works together to choose a theme or message that represents their community or youth group.
Sketching the Vision: Participants grab paper and markers to draft their designs, learning about letter structure and composition.
Can Control Practice: Before hitting the main wall, everyone practices basic lines, dots, and filling techniques on a test surface.
Outlining the Mural: Our professional artists help the youth scale up their sketches onto the large-scale surface.
Filling & Colouring: This is the fun part! The team works together to fill in the piece with vibrant South African colours.
Detailing & 3D Effects: We teach the kids how to add highlights, shadows, and 'second outlines' to make their art pop.
The Big Reveal: We step back to admire the collective work, take group photos, and discuss the impact of the project.
Clean-up & Wrap-up: We ensure the site is left tidy, leaving only the beautiful new artwork behind.

Local culture

Bloemfontein, the heart of the Free State, has a growing appreciation for urban art that reflects its rich cultural heritage and laid-back atmosphere. While the city is famous for its historical architecture and the Loch Logan Waterfront, there is a rising movement of young creatives looking to add a modern, street-style edge to the local landscape. Our workshops often draw inspiration from the natural beauty of the Free State—warm sunsets and vast open horizons—mixed with the energetic pulse of modern South African youth culture. We believe in fostering local talent right here in Bloem, providing a platform where the 'Mangaung' spirit can be expressed through spray cans and stencils in a safe, legal, and professional environment.
