Is the graffiti workshop safe for teenagers?

Our youth projects are designed with safety as the primary focus. We provide high-quality respiratory masks, gloves, and protective suits to keep everyone safe and clean. Our instructors are professional artists who are experienced in managing groups of young people, ensuring that the spray cans are used responsibly and that the environment remains respectful and inclusive for all participants.

What is the minimum age for participants?

Generally, we recommend our youth projects for ages 10 and up. This ensures that the participants have the physical coordination to handle the spray cans and the focus to follow the artistic instructions. We can tailor the complexity of the project to suit different age brackets within a group, making sure everyone feels challenged but not overwhelmed by the creative process.

Do the kids need prior art experience?

Not at all! Our workshops are designed for all skill levels, from total beginners who have never touched a spray can to those who already love to doodle. Our artists guide the group through every step, starting with basic shapes and lines before moving on to more complex techniques. Every young person will walk away with something they are proud of.

Where do the workshops take place in Sydney?

We can host workshops at various locations across Sydney! We have access to several legal graffiti walls and creative spaces. Alternatively, if you have a suitable outdoor space at your youth centre or school with enough ventilation, we can often come to you. We use canvases or temporary wooden boards if a permanent wall isn't available for painting.

How long does a typical session last?

A standard youth project workshop typically runs for about 2 hours. This provides enough time for the safety briefing, technique practice, and the completion of a final masterpiece. However, we can also offer extended half-day sessions or multi-day programs if you are looking for a more in-depth creative project for your youth group or community centre.

What materials are included in the price?

We provide everything! This includes professional-grade spray paint in a huge range of vibrant colours, caps (nozzles) for different effects, protective gear, and the painting surface (canvases or boards). You just need to make sure the participants wear old clothes and closed-toe shoes that they don't mind getting a little bit of 'artistic' dust on!

How do I book and when do I pay?

Booking is easy! You don't need to pay anything upfront. Simply contact us via the website to check availability for your preferred date and time. Once we've confirmed the details of your group size and location, we'll lock it in. After the workshop is finished and everyone has had a blast, that's when we handle the payment.

The experience

Why choose Graffitifun for your next youth initiative? We don't just teach kids how to spray; we give them a platform to be heard. Here is why our Sydney programs are a smash hit:

Confidence Boost: Watching a blank wall transform into a masterpiece gives young people a massive sense of achievement. 🏆
Safe & Legal: We teach the importance of 'permission walls' and legal expression, steering energy into positive channels.
Professional Mentors: Our artists aren't just teachers; they're active members of the street art community who inspire genuine respect. ✨
Teamwork in Action: Large-scale murals require collaboration, communication, and a shared vision.
Zero Stress Booking: With our 'pay later' policy and backup artists, your event is guaranteed to go off without a hitch. 🚀

Step by step

Intro and safety first: We start with a quick meet-and-greet and kit everyone out in protective gear. Safety is our top priority!
The art of the spray: Our pros demonstrate how to hold the can, control the pressure, and swap caps for different line widths.
Sketching the vision: Youth participants start by sketching their ideas on paper or directly onto the wall with light 'guide' colours.
Filling in the blanks: This is where the colour happens! We teach techniques for smooth 'fills' and vibrant gradients.
Cutting and outlining: Learn the 'pro' secrets of outlining to make the artwork pop and look sharp against the background.
The highlight reel: We add highlights and 'flashes' to give the piece a 3D effect and professional finish.
Final touches and photos: We tidy up the edges and take group photos with the completed masterpiece to show off to friends and family!

Local culture

Sydney has a world-class street art scene, with legendary spots like the May Lane Art Project in St Peters and the ever-changing murals of Newtown. Our workshops tap into this local heritage, teaching kids the difference between 'toy' tagging and the incredible murals that define our city's visual identity. We love bringing that 'Sydney spirit' into our projects, encouraging participants to draw inspiration from the harbour, the coastline, and our diverse urban culture.

Fun Fact: Did you know that Sydney's Inner West is home to some of the highest concentrations of legal street art in Australia? Many of the world's most famous artists have left their mark right here on our doorstep! 🇦🇺
