Why choose us in Penang?

Why choose a Graffitifun session for your next youth initiative? It’s simple: we turn the 'vandalism' stereotype on its head and focus on the positive, constructive power of street art. Kids and teens love it because it’s 'cool,' while organisers love it because it builds real-world skills. ✨

  • 💪 Boosts confidence: Seeing a large-scale artwork come to life gives young people a massive sense of achievement.
  • 🤝 Teamwork in action: Our collaborative murals require communication, planning, and working together towards a shared goal.
  • 🧠 Safe creative outlet: We provide a legal and structured environment for kids to express themselves freely.
  • 🎨 Real artist mentors: Work alongside professional graffiti artists who share their passion and industry secrets.
  • 🌱 Community pride: Transforming a local wall in Penang creates a lasting sense of ownership and pride in the neighbourhood.
  • 🎉 Pure fun: Let's be honest—spraying paint is incredibly satisfying and a great stress-buster!

How it works

  1. Intro & inspiration: We start with a high-energy intro about the history of street art and look at some famous Penang murals to get the creative juices flowing.
  2. Safety briefing: Safety first! Everyone gets kitted out in protective suits, gloves, and masks while we explain how to use the equipment responsibly.
  3. Mastering the can: Our artists demonstrate 'can control'—teaching participants how to make thin lines, fat drips, and smooth gradients.
  4. Sketching the vision: Participants brainstorm their designs on paper, focusing on tags, throw-ups, or a collaborative community theme.
  5. Outline & fill: It’s time to hit the wall! Guided by our pros, the youth start sketching their outlines with paint and filling in the vibrant colours.
  6. Adding the 'pop': We teach specialized techniques like highlights, 3D shadows, and 'power lines' to make the artwork stand out.
  7. The finishing touches: Participants refine their work, adding intricate details and sharpening edges for a professional-looking finish.
  8. Group photo & cleanup: We celebrate the masterpiece with a big group photo (the perfect 'Gram moment) and handle all the site cleanup.

Frequently asked questions

Do participants need any previous art experience?

Absolutely! Our youth projects are designed specifically for beginners. Our professional artists start with the basics of spray can control and safety before moving on to more complex techniques. We foster a supportive environment where making mistakes is just part of the creative process. By the end of the session, every participant will have created something they can be truly proud of, regardless of their prior artistic experience.

Is the graffiti workshop safe for teenagers?

Safety is our number one priority. We provide high-quality respiratory masks, gloves, and protective overalls for every participant. Our workshops take place in well-ventilated areas, and our instructors are trained to supervise the group closely, ensuring everyone uses the equipment correctly. We use professional-grade spray paint, and our team is always on hand to manage the gear so the kids can focus on being creative safely.

How long does a typical session last?

A standard youth project workshop usually lasts between 2 to 3 hours. This timeframe is perfect for keeping energy levels high while allowing enough time to learn techniques, plan a design, and complete a final piece. For larger community projects or mural painting, we can extend this over multiple days. We’re flexible and can tailor the duration to fit your specific schedule or event needs in Penang.

What materials do we need to provide?

We believe in providing the full experience! Graffitifun provides everything: premium spray cans in a rainbow of colours, protective gear (masks, suits, gloves), caps (nozzles), and the 'canvas'—which could be a wall, large boards, or individual canvases. You just need to show up in clothes you don't mind getting a bit of dust on and bring plenty of creative energy. We handle all the setup and the messy cleanup afterwards!

Do you have indoor options or backup plans for bad weather?

Yes, we do! Our youth projects are great for building teamwork and community spirit. On rainy days, we have indoor-safe options using water-based pens or specialized low-odour paints, or we can move the session to a covered outdoor area. We also have a network of backup artists to ensure that your event goes ahead even if an instructor is unexpectedly unavailable. We’ve got every base covered!

How much does a youth project workshop cost?

We don't have a fixed price because every youth project is unique! The cost depends on the number of participants, the location in Penang, and the amount of paint required for the specific project. However, we make it easy: you can use our online Cost Calculator for an instant estimate, or contact us for a personalized quote. Best of all, there’s no upfront payment—you only pay after the workshop!
