Is the graffiti workshop safe for school-aged children?

Absolutely! At Graffitifun Chennai, safety is our top priority. We use low-odour, high-quality spray paints and provide all participants with protective gear, including masks and gloves. Our professional artists supervise the session at all times to ensure a safe, supportive, and respectful environment. Making sure every student feels comfortable and secure while they express their creativity is what we do best!

How long does a typical session last?

Typically, our after-school graffiti workshops in Chennai last between 1.5 to 2.5 hours. This gives the students enough time to learn the basic techniques, practice their 'tagging' and 'piece' styles, and complete their final masterpiece on a canvas or designated wall. We can also adjust the duration to fit into your school’s specific extracurricular timetable or special event schedule.

Do the students need prior art experience?

Not at all! Our workshops are designed for everyone, from those who have never picked up a spray can to budding young artists. Our instructors break down the process into easy, manageable steps. We focus more on the 'fun' and 'expression' parts of street art rather than perfection. You’ll be amazed at what the kids can create with just a little bit of professional guidance.

What materials are included in the workshop package?

We provide everything needed for a successful street art session. This includes a wide variety of professional spray paint colours, caps (nozzles), protective masks, gloves, and hooded suits to keep their school uniforms clean. We also provide the canvases or boards that the students get to work on. Just bring your energy and creativity, and we will handle the rest!

Can you host the workshop at our school premises?

Yes, we do! While we love visiting schools and community centres across Chennai, we can also host workshops at our partner locations if your school doesn't have a suitable outdoor space. We are flexible and mobile, so whether it's your playground, a local park, or a creative studio, we can make the graffiti magic happen just about anywhere safely.

What should the students wear to the workshop?

We recommend wearing comfortable, older clothes and closed-toe shoes. While we provide protective suits and gear, graffiti can sometimes get a little messy, and it’s better to be safe than sorry! Since it’s Chennai, light and breathable clothing is best for our outdoor sessions. If students are coming straight from class, our protective gear will help keep those uniforms looking sharp.

How can I get a quote for a large group of students?

Of course! We want to make sure your students have the best experience possible. You can use our online Cost Calculator for a quick estimate, or reach out to us for a detailed proposal. We offer competitive pricing for Chennai schools and can tailor the workshop size and duration to fit your budget. Plus, there is no upfront payment required—you pay only after the fun is done!

Step by step

Intro & Street Art History: We start with a quick, high-energy talk about the roots of graffiti culture and how it evolved into a respected global art form.
Safety & Gear Up: Students get fitted with their protective masks, gloves, and suits. Safety first, style second!
Mastering the Can: Our pros teach the 'can control' basics—how to hold the spray can, adjust pressure, and swap nozzles for different effects.
Sketching the Concept: Using markers or chalk, students sketch their initials or a cool team nickname onto their canvas.
Filling & Fading: This is where the colour happens! Kids learn how to create smooth fills and those iconic street art gradients.
Outlining & Highlights: The pros show them how to make their art 'pop' with sharp outlines and bright highlights.
Adding Character: Students can add drips, stars, or 3D effects to make their work truly unique and personal.
The Big Reveal: We finish with a mini-exhibition where everyone gets to show off their masterpiece to the group!

Local culture

Chennai has always been a city where tradition meets modern edge. From the historic temples of Mylapore to the bustling creative hubs of Besant Nagar, the city is finding its voice through murals and public art. Our workshops tap into this local 'Madras' energy, encouraging students to blend global street art styles with their own local stories. Whether it's inspired by the waves at Marina Beach or the vibrant colours of a local festival, we help Chennai’s youth express their identity through the medium of aerosol art.

Fun Fact: Did you know Chennai is home to some of India's most stunning railway station murals? The city's street art scene is rapidly growing, turning grey walls into colourful chronicles of local life!
