How long does a typical graffiti birthday party last?

Most of our Canberra kids' birthday parties run for about 1.5 to 2 hours. This gives the groms enough time to learn the basic techniques, practice their 'tag' on paper, and then complete their main masterpiece on the wall or canvas. We find this is the 'sweet spot' for keeping energy high and focus sharp without the kids getting tuckered out before the final reveal.

Do the kids need any previous art experience?

Not at all! Our professional artists are pros at working with all skill levels. We start with the absolute basics—how to hold the can, how to control the pressure, and how to stay safe. By the end of the session, even the kids who claim they 'can't draw' are usually blown away by the vibrant street art they've managed to create. It's all about having fun!

Is it safe for children to use spray paint?

Safety is our number one priority. We provide all the necessary protective gear, including high-quality masks, gloves, and overalls to keep their clothes clean. We also use low-pressure spray cans which are much easier for smaller hands to control. Every session is fully supervised by experienced artists who ensure the paint stays on the wall and everyone stays safe while having a blast.

Where do the workshops take place in Canberra?

We're flexible! We can host the party at one of our approved street art locations around Canberra, or if you have a suitable outdoor space at home (with a bit of ventilation and permission!), we can bring the mobile graffiti setup to you. We just need a bit of room to set up our practice boards or canvases. Just let us know your preference when booking.

Can we choose a specific theme for the birthday mural?

Anything is possible! While we usually teach them to create their own unique 'tag' or name piece, we can definitely tailor the colours or style to match a specific theme, like superheroes, space, or jungle vibes. Just give us a heads-up during the booking process so our artists can prepare some inspired sketches and colour palettes to match your vision for the big day.

What is the minimum age for participants?

We recommend our graffiti workshops for kids aged 6 and up. At this age, they generally have the motor skills to press the spray nozzles and follow the safety instructions. For the younger ones (6-8), we provide extra guidance and sometimes use smaller cans. For teens, we dial up the technical difficulty to keep them challenged and engaged with more complex layering and shading techniques.

What happens if it rains on the day of the party?

We know Canberra weather can be a bit unpredictable, but the party must go on! If it looks like rain, we can move the workshop to a sheltered outdoor area or an indoor space with proper ventilation using water-based paint markers or canvases. We always have a backup plan ready to go, and our artists are experts at adapting to ensure the birthday kid isn't disappointed.

Local culture

Canberra might be known for its museums and monuments, but the local street art scene is absolutely thriving! From the vibrant murals in Braddon to the hidden gems tucked away in Belconnen, the city is a canvas for some of Australia's most talented artists. Our workshops tap into this local creative energy, giving Canberra kids a chance to contribute to the city's artistic vibe.

Fun Fact: Did you know Canberra has several "legal graffiti practice walls" designated by the ACT Government? These spots allow artists to hone their craft legally, and they are exactly the kind of spots where we often host our legendary workshop sessions! 🎨

We love bringing the Canberra community together through art. Whether we're setting up near the shores of Lake Burley Griffin or heading out to the suburbs, we bring the vibe of a professional street art studio right to you. It's about more than just paint; it's about celebrating the unique, bold spirit of the ACT.
