Do students need any prior art experience?

Absolutely not! Our Cologne workshops are designed for all skill levels, from those who can't draw a stick figure to aspiring young artists. Our professional tutors break down the process into simple, manageable steps. We focus on technique, safety, and, most importantly, having a great time. Every student will walk away with a piece of art they are proud of and a new-found confidence in their creative abilities.

Is the workshop safe for secondary school students?

Safety is our number one priority. We provide high-quality respiratory masks, disposable gloves, and protective suits for every student. Our workshops take place in well-ventilated outdoor areas or specially designated legal graffiti zones in Cologne. Our artists are fully trained in safety protocols and supervise the group closely at all times to ensure a fun, risk-free environment for everyone involved.

What kind of materials do you provide?

We use professional-grade spray paint specifically designed for street art. These cans have different pressure settings and nozzles (caps) that allow for better control. We also provide all necessary protective gear—overalls, masks, and gloves—to keep school uniforms clean. For the final pieces, we use high-quality canvases or large wooden boards, depending on what the school prefers for the final display.

How long does a typical workshop last?

A standard graffiti workshop for secondary schools usually lasts between 2 and 3 hours. This gives us enough time for a brief history of street art, a safety demonstration, practice sessions on plastic wrap or boards, and the final creation of the masterpiece. We can also adjust the timing to fit into your specific school timetable or double-up sessions for larger year groups.

Can the workshop take place on school grounds?

We are very flexible! We can host the workshop at a legal graffiti wall in Cologne to give kids the 'authentic' experience, or we can come directly to your school grounds. If we come to you, we set up professional mobile walls and use protective flooring to ensure no permanent marks are left behind. We bring the street art vibe directly to your gym or playground!

Can the students work on a collective mural?

Yes, definitely! One of our most popular options for secondary schools is the 'Legacy Wall' project, where a group of students collaborates on a single large-scale mural. This is fantastic for team building and leaves the school with a permanent piece of vibrant art. Alternatively, students can work on individual canvases to take home. We'll discuss your preference during the booking process.

What is your payment policy for schools?

We understand that school trips and activities require careful planning. One of the best things about Graffitifun is that you don't need to pay anything upfront. You can book your date and secure your local Cologne artist, and payment is only handled after the workshop has been successfully completed. This makes the administrative process much easier for teachers and school bursars.

The experience

Why choose a graffiti workshop for your Cologne students? It’s more than just spray painting—it’s a unique educational tool that hits different! 🔥

Boosts confidence: Watch as even the most hesitant students find their voice through bold, colourful art.
Team building: Collaborative murals encourage students to communicate and work together towards a huge visual goal.
Cultural education: We dive into the history and ethics of street art, teaching the difference between vandalism and legal art.
Professional pros: Our artists are active in the Cologne scene and know how to engage with teenagers on their level.
Stress-free for teachers: We handle all the setup, safety, and cleanup. You just bring the students!
Safe & legal: We only use high-quality, low-odour paints and provide top-notch safety equipment.

Step by step

Intro & inspiration: Our local Cologne artist kicks things off with a brief history of graffiti culture and a look at famous styles.
Safety briefing: We suit up! Students get their masks, gloves, and overalls while learning how to handle spray cans responsibly.
The tag creator: Before picking up a can, students sketch out their ideas and learn about letter structure and flow.
Can control 101: We start with the basics—learning how to control pressure, create thin lines, and fill large areas smoothly.
Practice run: Students get a feel for the paint on practice surfaces, building confidence before moving to the final piece.
Background & filling: The real work begins as students apply their base colours and start layering their chosen designs.
Outlining & highlights: This is where the magic happens! We add sharp outlines and 'pop' highlights to make the art stand out.
Final touches: Our pro artists help students refine their work, adding those professional details that bring the piece to life.
The big reveal: We finish with a group photo and a 'gallery walk' to admire the collective talent of the class!

Creative collaboration during a graffiti company outing

Local culture

Cologne is a city that breathes street art. From the colourful murals of Ehrenfeld to the hidden gems in the Belgisches Viertel, the city serves as a massive open-air gallery. Our workshops take inspiration from this local 'Kölsch' grit and artistic flair. We don't just teach graffiti; we connect students to the local urban landscape they see every day on the way to school.

💡 Fun Fact: Cologne is home to one of the oldest legal graffiti walls in Germany. The city’s "CityLeaks" festival has helped turn former industrial areas into world-class art hubs, making it the perfect backdrop for a school workshop!

Whether we are visiting your school grounds or meeting you at a legal wall near the Rhine, the spirit of Cologne street art is at the heart of everything we do. We encourage students to think about how art can change a community, just like it has in their own city. 🏰✨
