Is the workshop location in Cologne wheelchair accessible?

Absolutely! We choose locations in Cologne that are fully wheelchair accessible and have wide, flat surfaces. We also adapt our setup by placing canvases at various heights and ensuring there is plenty of space for maneuverability. Our goal is to make sure every participant feels comfortable and included from the moment they arrive at the site.

What safety measures do you take for special needs groups?

Safety is our number one priority. We provide high-quality protective gear, including masks, gloves, and overalls. We use low-pressure spray cans which are much easier to control, and our artists provide constant supervision. We also offer water-based paint options for those with high sensory sensitivities to ensure a comfortable breathing environment for everyone involved.

What is the minimum age for participation?

We recommend a minimum age of 6, but we focus more on individual ability than age. Our artists are experts at adapting their teaching style for children, teenagers, and adults with various needs. Whether it is a school group or a private family outing, we tailor the complexity of the art to match the participants' developmental stage.

Do participants need to have any artistic skills?

No prior art experience is needed at all! Our Cologne-based artists are trained to guide everyone from total beginners to creative enthusiasts. We use stencils, tape, and simple shapes to help participants create something they can be proud of, regardless of their previous experience with a spray can or a paintbrush.

Can you host the workshop at our own facility in Cologne?

We are very flexible! While we have amazing outdoor spots in Cologne, we can also bring the workshop to your facility or a rented indoor hall if that’s more comfortable for your group. If we are outdoors and the weather turns, our backup artist system ensures we can reschedule or move to a sheltered location quickly and efficiently.

How long does a typical special needs workshop last?

A standard workshop lasts between 1.5 and 2 hours. We find this is the 'sweet spot' for maintaining high energy and focus without causing fatigue. However, we can shorten or lengthen the session based on the specific concentration levels and needs of your group. We work at your pace, never rushing the creative process.

What happens to the artwork after the workshop?

The final masterpiece is yours to keep! If we work on individual canvases, participants can take them home immediately. If we create a large group mural, it makes for a fantastic photo opportunity and a lasting memory. We can even arrange for the large boards to be delivered to your centre or school in Cologne afterwards.

The experience

Why choose a graffiti experience in Cologne for your special needs group? It’s more than just painting; it’s about confidence, sensory exploration, and community. ✨

Sensory-rich experience: The sound of the can, the feel of the paint, and the vibrant colours provide fantastic visual and tactile stimulation.
Zero-pressure environment: Graffiti is inherently "imperfect," which removes the anxiety of making mistakes that often comes with traditional art.
Professional artists: Our team isn't just skilled with a can; they are patient, encouraging, and experienced in working with diverse abilities.
Safety & comfort: We use safe, low-odour materials and provide all necessary protective wear so everyone stays clean and comfortable.
Boosted self-esteem: Seeing a large-scale piece of art come to life creates a tangible sense of achievement for every participant.
Maximum flexibility: From school programmes to kids parties, we adapt everything to you.

Step by step

Site selection: We choose a 100% accessible location in Cologne or arrange to come to your specific venue.
Warm welcome: Meet our friendly street artists who will introduce the group to the vibrant world of graffiti.
Safety first: Everyone gets fitted with protective overalls, gloves, and professional-grade masks for a safe session.
Sketching the vision: We start with simple drawings on paper to get the creative juices flowing and build confidence.
Can control: Our artists demonstrate low-pressure spray techniques that are easy for everyone to master.
The main event: It’s time to paint! Participants apply their colours to the canvas or wall with hands-on support.
Finishing touches: We help add outlines and highlights to make the artwork really "pop" and look professional.

Local culture

Cologne is a city that breathes art, from the towering Gothic Cathedral to the hidden gems in the Ehrenfeld district. The local street art scene here is legendary, and we love bringing that urban energy to our inclusive sessions. Did you know that Cologne has several "Hall of Fame" spots where graffiti is legally encouraged? We often use these vibrant backdrops to inspire our participants. 🎨

Fun Fact: Cologne is home to CityLeaks, one of the most famous urban art festivals in Europe, proving that this city views street art as a vital part of its community spirit!

Whether we are painting near the banks of the Rhine or in a quiet courtyard in the Belgisches Viertel, the spirit of "Kölsche Gelassenheit" (Cologne's famous relaxed attitude) is always present in our workshops.
