Step by step

  1. Intro & Street Art History: We start with a high-energy intro into the world of graffiti, its origins, and how it evolved into a respected global art form.
  2. Mastering the Can: Students learn the 'anatomy' of a spray can, including how different 'caps' (nozzles) create different line thicknesses and effects.
  3. Sketching Your Concept: Using our Tag Creator tools, students sketch their ideas on paper first, focusing on letter structure and flow.
  4. First Lines: It's time to spray! Students hit the practice boards to get a feel for pressure, distance, and movement.
  5. Fill-ins & Colour Theory: We teach the group how to blend vibrant colours and create smooth 'fills' without drips or runs.
  6. Outlining & Highlights: The pros show how to make art 'pop' using sharp outlines and strategic 3D highlights for depth.
  7. Large-Scale Mural: The class collaborates on a massive final piece, often incorporating the school's name or a chosen theme like 'Community' or 'Unity'.
  8. The Big Reveal & Cleanup: We finish with a group photo in front of the masterpiece and ensure the area is left spotless!

Local culture

Street art in Labasa

Labasa is a town known for its warm heart and vibrant sugar-cane culture, and we love bringing that same energy to our workshops. The 'Friendly North' provides the perfect backdrop for students to explore their artistic identity. From the bustling market vibes to the scenic views along the Labasa River, there is so much local inspiration to draw from. We often encourage students to incorporate Fijian motifs or local themes into their graffiti pieces, bridging the gap between traditional heritage and modern street art. 🔥

Fun Fact: Did you know Labasa is often called 'Lambasa'? Regardless of how you say it, the creativity here is louder than the sugar train whistles! We’ve seen some of the most incredible colour combinations inspired by the natural landscapes of Vanua Levu right here in our sessions.
