Do I need to be artistic or have experience to participate?

You don't need any previous art experience to join our Surabaya street art festival workshops! Our professional artists guide you through every step, from basic nozzle control to advanced layering techniques. We provide all the professional-grade spray paint and safety equipment required. Whether you’re a total beginner or a seasoned doodler, we’ll help you create something you’re proud of. It’s all about having fun and expressing your unique personality.

What safety gear is provided during the workshop?

Safety is our top priority while we're making art! We provide high-quality respiratory masks, protective gloves, and disposable overalls to keep your clothes clean and your lungs safe. Our workshops are held in well-ventilated outdoor areas or specially set-up festival zones. Our lead artists are also trained in site safety to ensure everyone has a blast without any risks. You just focus on the creativity, and we'll handle the logistics!

What should I wear to the street art festival?

We recommend wearing comfortable clothes that you don't mind getting a little 'colourful' just in case. While we provide full protective overalls, sometimes a little stray paint can find its way onto your shoes. Wear closed-toe shoes for safety and ease of movement. Since Surabaya can get quite warm, breathable fabrics are your best friend! We want you to stay cool while your artwork stays hot!

How long does a typical graffiti session last?

Our festival sessions are incredibly efficient! A standard introductory workshop usually lasts between 90 minutes and 2 hours. This gives us enough time to cover the fundamentals, practice your 'tag', and complete a collaborative masterpiece on a large-scale wall or individual canvas. For larger corporate groups or full-day festival activations, we can adjust the timing to fit your specific schedule. It’s the perfect high-energy addition to any event.

Can children participate in the graffiti workshops?

Absolutely! We love bringing the energy to younger creatives. We offer specially designed workshops for kids (usually aged 6 and up) using water-based paints or simplified techniques that are safe and easy to follow. It’s a fantastic way for kids to develop their motor skills and creative confidence in a supportive, high-energy environment. We ensure all tools used are age-appropriate and fully supervised by our friendly pro artists.

Do I need to pay in advance to book a session?

We believe in total flexibility! You don't need to pay anything upfront when booking your Surabaya street art experience. You can confirm your date and artist today and settle the payment after the workshop is completed. We want you to be 100% satisfied with the creative energy we bring to your event before you part with your hard-earned cash. It's our 'fun guaranteed' promise to you!

What happens if it rains on the day of the event?

Surabaya's tropical weather can be unpredictable! For planned outdoor events, we always have a 'Plan B'. This might involve using a covered area, setting up pop-up tents, or moving to a nearby indoor location if available. If the weather is truly uncooperative, our flexible scheduling means we can often reschedule to a better time. We also have backup artists ready to go, so your event happens rain or shine!

Step by step

Introduction & Safety Briefing: Meet your pro graffiti artist and get geared up with masks and overalls. We’ll cover the dos and don'ts to keep the vibes high and the mess low. ✨
The Art of the Can: Learn the secret handshake of street art—how to hold the spray can, swap nozzles (caps), and control pressure for thin lines or fat fills.
Sketching Your Concept: Use chalk or light spray to map out your design on the wall or canvas. Our artists help you with proportions and layout. ✍️
Filling In the Colours: Time to go bold! Start filling in your shapes with vibrant colours, learning how to blend and fade like a true street pro.
The Power of the Outline: This is where the magic happens. Trace your design with a sharp outline to make your artwork pop off the surface. 🔥
Adding Highlights & Details: Learn how 'shines' and 3D shadows give your graffiti depth and a professional finish.

Local culture

Surabaya is a city that thrives on grit, history, and a fiercely independent spirit—qualities that are at the very heart of street art culture. From the colourful murals of Kampung Pelangi to the hidden gems in the back alleys of Basuki Rahmat, the city's urban landscape is a growing canvas for local talent. Our workshops tap into this local 'Arek' pride, blending traditional Surabaya resilience with modern urban expression.

Fun Fact: Did you know Surabaya is known as the "City of Heroes" (Kota Pahlawan)? Just as the city's ancestors fought for independence, today's local artists use graffiti to reclaim public spaces and tell the modern story of Indonesia's second-largest metropolis. 🏆

When we set up a graffiti experience during a local festival, we don't just paint; we connect with the local community, celebrating the unique blend of Javanese culture and modern industrial vibes that makes Surabaya so special.

Pricing

We believe every street art experience should be as unique as the person creating it! Because we tailor each workshop to your specific location, group size, and material needs, we don't have a one-size-fits-all price list. Whether you're looking for a quick festival pop-up or a massive corporate team-building event in the heart of Surabaya, we've got you covered.

Prices depend on group size and setup—request a quote today!

Don't forget: No upfront payment is required, and we guarantee 100% satisfaction with your creative session. 🚀
