Do I need any previous art experience to join?

Absolutely not! Our Surabaya pop-up events are designed for everyone, from total beginners to seasoned creatives. Our professional artists will guide you through the basics of can control, nozzle types, and layering techniques. We provide all the guidance and tools you need to create something you'll be proud of by the end of the session. It is all about having fun and expressing yourself!

Is the graffiti workshop safe?

Safety is our top priority. We provide high-quality masks, gloves, and protective overalls to keep your clothes clean and your lungs safe. We use professional-grade spray paints and conduct our workshops in well-ventilated outdoor or large open-air indoor spaces. Our instructors supervise every step of the process to ensure everyone follows the safety guidelines while having a blast.

What should I wear to the event?

We recommend wearing comfortable clothes and shoes that you don't mind getting a tiny bit of paint on—just in case! While we provide protective gear like overalls and gloves, it’s best to be prepared. Surabaya can be warm, so breathable fabrics are a great choice for staying cool while you work on your masterpiece. Leave the designer gear at home for this one!

How many people can participate at once?

Our pop-up events are incredibly flexible. We can host small dedicated groups of 10 people or facilitate large-scale festival-style workshops for hundreds of participants throughout the day. Whether it's a private gathering or a massive public activation in the city centre, we have the artist roster and equipment to scale the experience to perfectly fit your guest list.

How long does a session typically last?

A standard pop-up workshop session usually lasts between 1.5 to 3 hours. This gives us enough time for a safety briefing, a demonstration of techniques, individual practice, and the final creation of your artwork. For larger public events, we can run back-to-back shorter sessions or a 'drop-in' format that lasts the entire day.

What materials are included in the price?

Everything! Your booking includes professional-grade spray cans in a huge variety of colours, high-quality caps (nozzles), protective gear, canvases or boards to paint on, and expert tuition from our local graffiti artists. We also handle the full setup and clean-up, so you can just show up and start spraying without any worries.

How do I book and what are the payment terms?

Booking is easy! Simply fill out our contact form with your expected group size and preferred date. We'll send you a custom quote based on your needs. One of the best parts about Graffitifun is that no upfront payment is required—you pay after the workshop is completed. We also have backup artists available to ensure your event goes ahead no matter what!

Instant Atmosphere: We turn any mundane car park or courtyard into a vibrant, pulsing hub of creativity. ✨
Total Inclusivity: It doesn't matter if you've never held a spray can; our pros make sure everyone leaves with a smile and a masterpiece.
Epic Content: Let’s be real, graffiti makes for the best photos! Your social media feed will thank you. 📸
Stress Relief: There is something incredibly therapeutic about the 'hiss' of the can and the flow of the paint.
Professional Guidance: You’re learning from the best—our artists live and breathe street culture.
Flexibility: We come to you! From Bandung to Medan, we travel to make your event happen. 🌍

Step by step

Arrival and Gear-up: Meet our crew at the pop-up location and get fitted with your protective overalls, masks, and gloves. ✨
Artist Intro: Our pro graffiti artist shares the history of street art and explains the different spray caps you'll be using.
First Lines: After a safety demo, you'll grab your first can to practice basic lines, dots, and fades on a practice wall. 🔥
Sketching Your Hero: Use chalk or light paint to map out your main design on your canvas or the shared mural space.
Filling and Colouring: This is where the magic happens! Fill in your shapes with bold colours and learn how to blend like a pro. 🎨
The Outline: Add the 'Power Line'—the thick outline that makes graffiti pop off the background.
Fine Details: Use skinny caps to add highlights, shadows, and those all-important final flourishes.
Group Photos: Strike a pose with your finished masterpiece and the whole crew for the ultimate memory. 📸
Take it Home: Depending on the setup, you'll get to take your individual canvas home or leave behind a stunning community mural!

Local culture

Surabaya has always been a city of grit and "Bonek" spirit, and its street art scene reflects that incredible resilience. From the colourful hidden murals in the old heritage districts to the modern urban displays in the emerging creative hubs, the city is a canvas waiting to be explored. Our workshops tap into this local energy, celebrating the legendary Surabaya "toughness" with bold colours and daring designs. We love the way the city blends its colonial history with a modern, fast-paced industrial vibe, providing the perfect backdrop for a pop-up event.

Fun Fact: Did you know Surabaya is known as the "City of Heroes"? We often see our workshop participants channelling that heroic spirit into their artwork, creating massive, courageous designs that celebrate the city's legendary history! 🏆

Whether you're looking for a workshop here or in nearby Semarang or even Jakarta, we bring the same passion for local culture to every spray can we open.
