Do I need prior experience with graffiti as an art teacher?

Absolutely! Our workshops are designed for all skill levels. We start with the absolute basics of spray can handling, nozzle selection, and safety. By the time you reach the mural phase, you will feel confident and empowered. Most of our participants have never touched a spray can before, yet they leave with the skills to lead their own student groups effectively. It is all about the process!

What materials are included in the Rhodes training?

We provide all the necessary professional equipment for the training. This includes high-quality low-pressure spray cans (easier to control), a variety of nozzles (caps), protective suits, gloves, and FFP3 masks for safety. We also provide the practice surfaces. You just need to wear comfortable clothing and shoes that you don't mind getting a tiny bit of paint on. We handle the messy part!

How can I apply these skills in a standard school setting?

Our training is incredibly versatile. You can apply these skills in traditional art classes, after-school clubs, community mural projects, or even as part of a history lesson on urban culture. We teach you how to scale these techniques down for paper or up for a school wall, ensuring you have a practical toolkit that fits within the standard UK or Greek educational curriculum requirements.

Is the graffiti workshop safe for my students?

Safety is our number one priority. We train you on the correct use of protective gear, proper ventilation, and the use of water-based or low-solvent spray paints which are better for educational environments. You will learn how to set up a safe workstation for your students and how to manage a group of kids with spray cans while keeping the environment (and the kids) clean and safe.

Will I receive a certificate after the training?

Yes! Upon completion of the training, you will receive a Graffitifun certificate of participation. While this is not a government teaching degree, it serves as a professional development credential that demonstrates your specialized training in urban art techniques. It is a fantastic addition to any art teacher's CV and shows a commitment to modern, inclusive art education methods.

Can the training take place at my own school or facility?

We are flexible! If you have a specific wall at your school or a local community space in Rhodes, we can often arrange to host the training there. Otherwise, we have several inspiring outdoor and indoor locations across the island. Just let us know your preference when booking, and we will find the most convenient and creative spot for your group.

Safe setup & gear: Learn how to prepare a classroom or outdoor space, emphasizing ventilation and the correct use of masks and gloves.
Mastering the can: Focus on 'can control'—learning how distance, speed, and pressure change your lines and fades.
Lettering & fonts: We dive into 'pieces' and 'tags,' showing you how to teach students to build their own unique typographic styles.
Stencil & technique: Learn how to integrate stencils and tape for crisp lines, a great method for students who struggle with freehand.
The collaborative mural: Work together on a large-scale project to experience the teamwork and coordination required for group murals.
Critique & pedagogy: Discuss how to evaluate street art and how to guide students through the creative process without stifling their 'edge'.
Cleanup & sustainability: Master the art of the 'leave no trace' cleanup and how to store materials for long-term school use.

Local culture

Rhodes is a city defined by its layers of history, from the Colossus and the Medieval Old Town to the modern street scenes found in the newer districts. This contrast makes it a unique place for art teacher training. While the island is famous for its ancient mosaics, there is a growing appreciation for contemporary urban expression in the 'New Town' and surrounding coastal areas. 🎨

Fun Fact: Did you know that the sun shines on Rhodes for approximately 3,000 hours a year? That makes it one of the best places in Europe for outdoor mural training, as the dry climate is perfect for paint to set quickly and vibrantly! ☀️

In our Rhodes sessions, we often draw inspiration from the island's natural beauty and its legendary history, blending classical Greek themes with modern graffiti styles to create something truly "Rhodes-ian."

Pricing

Our training sessions are competitively priced to fit within school and institutional budgets. The cost typically ranges from €20 to €45 per person, depending on the group size, location, and the specific materials required for your project. 💶

We believe every educational project is unique. Whether you are a small department of three or a large faculty of twenty, we want to provide the best value possible. Request a custom quote today to get a detailed breakdown for your team in Rhodes!
