Do the participants need any previous art experience?

Absolutely! No prior artistic experience is needed to join our youth projects in Fredrikstad. Our professional artists break down the process into easy, manageable steps. From learning how to hold the spray can to mastering basic 'fill-ins' and 'outlines', we guide every participant through the journey. It is all about building confidence and having a great time while discovering a new way to express yourself.

Is the graffiti workshop safe for teenagers?

Safety is our number one priority. We provide high-quality respiratory masks, protective gloves, and overall suits to keep everyone safe and clean. Our instructors are experienced professionals who provide a thorough safety briefing before any paint is sprayed. We use low-pressure cans that are easier to control, ensuring a safe and positive environment for all youth participants throughout the entire workshop session.

Where in Fredrikstad do the workshops take place?

We are flexible! We can host the workshop at various outdoor locations in Fredrikstad or at your specific youth centre or club if there is a suitable outdoor space. If the weather doesn't play ball, we often have indoor alternatives using water-based, low-odour paints or large cellophane walls. We always coordinate with you to find the most inspiring and practical spot for your group.

How long does a typical youth project session last?

A standard youth project workshop typically lasts between 2 and 3 hours. This gives us enough time for a proper introduction, sketching and design phase, and plenty of time for the actual spray painting. We can also adapt the duration for half-day intensives or multi-day community projects if you are looking for a more in-depth experience for the local youth.

What do we need to provide for the workshop?

Everything is included! We provide the spray paint, caps, safety gear, and the surfaces to paint on (like large wooden panels or plastic foil). We also bring sketches and inspiration material. Participants just need to wear old clothes and shoes that they don't mind getting a bit of 'artistic' paint on, just in case. We take care of all the setup and the cleanup.

What are the benefits of graffiti for youth development?

Graffiti is a fantastic tool for youth engagement because it combines physical activity with creative expression. It teaches patience, planning, and teamwork, especially during large-scale mural projects. Many young people find it incredibly rewarding to see their small sketches transformed into massive, colourful artworks. It boosts self-esteem and provides a sense of ownership and pride within their local Fredrikstad community.

How much does a youth graffiti project cost?

Our pricing in Fredrikstad generally ranges from kr300 to kr650 per person. This variation depends on the total number of participants, the duration of the project, and the specific materials required. We offer competitive rates for youth clubs and non-profits. For an accurate price tailored to your specific group size and goals, we recommend requesting a custom quote through our website.

The experience

Why choose a graffiti workshop for your next youth initiative? It's more than just painting walls; it's about building bridges and boosting self-worth. Here is why our Fredrikstad projects are a hit:

Instant engagement: Graffiti is "cool" by default. It grabs the attention of even the hardest-to-reach teens. 🔥
Team building: Working on a large-scale mural requires communication, compromise, and collective effort.
Professional mentors: Our artists are positive role models who share their passion and professional journey. 🎤
Safe expression: We provide a legitimate, legal outlet for creativity, reducing the urge for illegal tagging.
Skill development: From motor skills to colour theory and spatial awareness, there's a lot of "stealth learning" involved! 🧠
Community pride: Seeing their work in their local area gives youth a sense of belonging and achievement. 🏆

Step by step

Intro & inspiration: We start with a high-energy intro about the history of street art and look at some cool examples to get the creative juices flowing.
Safety first: Everyone gets kitted out in protective gear and learns the essential 'do's and don'ts' of using spray cans safely.
Sketching the vision: Participants grab paper and pens to brainstorm their designs, learning how to structure letters and characters like a pro.
Can control basics: Before hitting the big wall, we practice basic techniques like dots, lines, and fades on a practice surface.
Outline & fill: The real fun begins! Youth start 'filling in' their designs with vibrant colours and then adding those sharp, defining outlines.
Adding the 'pop': We teach advanced tricks like highlights, 3D shadows, and 'force fields' to make the artwork really stand out from the background.
Collaborative mural: If it's a group project, we work together to connect individual pieces into one massive, cohesive masterpiece.
The grand reveal: We take a step back to admire the work, take some epic group photos, and discuss what everyone learned during the process.

Local culture

Fredrikstad is a city that breathes history, from the stunning star-shaped fortification of Gamlebyen to its modern, industrial riverside. But beyond the cobblestones, there is a vibrant, modern energy waiting to be unleashed. The street art scene here provides a perfect bridge between the city’s storied past and its bright future. By bringing graffiti workshops to the local youth, we’re tapping into that 'Plankebyen' spirit of industry and creation. We love working near the Glomma river, where the light hits the murals just right! 🎨

Fun Fact: Did you know that Fredrikstad's Old Town is Northern Europe's best-preserved fortified town? Imagine the contrast of modern, neon graffiti against those 17th-century walls! (Don't worry, we only paint where we are allowed!) 🏰✨
