The experience

Why choose a graffiti workshop for your next youth initiative in Mombasa? It’s more than just painting—it’s about building bridges and sparking a passion for the arts. Here’s why it works:

  • Total Inclusivity: You don't need to be an "artist" to enjoy this. It levels the playing field for everyone. 🎨
  • Confidence Booster: Seeing a giant mural finished in just a few hours gives participants an incredible sense of achievement. 💪
  • Team Spirit: A large-scale wall requires collaboration, communication, and a shared vision. 🔥
  • Legal & Safe: We teach the difference between vandalism and street art, promoting respect for the local environment. ✨
  • Professional Mentorship: Our artists aren't just teachers; they are active pros who inspire the youth with their real-world experience. 🏆

Whether you're in the city centre or out near Nyali, we bring the vibe to you!

Step by step

  1. The warm-up: We kick things off with a high-energy intro, talking about the history of street art and how it helps communities express themselves.
  2. Design session: Your group brainstorms a theme. Whether it's coastal vibes or local heroes, we sketch out the vision on paper first.
  3. Can control basics: Before hitting the wall, we teach the 'secret' techniques of the pros—how to hold the can, adjust the nozzle, and control pressure.
  4. The grand outline: Our lead artist helps the youth map out the master design on the wall using light 'sketching' strokes.
  5. Filling in the colour: This is the loud and proud part! Everyone grabs a can and starts bringing the mural to life with vibrant, bold colours.
  6. Adding the detail: We teach the tricks of 3D effects, highlights, and shadows to make the artwork pop off the surface.
  7. The 'Power' outline: We wrap things up with sharp black outlines that pull the whole masterpiece together.
  8. Final reveal & photos: We stand back, admire the hard work, and snap some epic photos of the team and their new creation!

Local culture

Street art in Mombasa

Mombasa is a city of rhythm and soul, where the ancient history of Old Town meets the modern energy of the coast. We love bringing our graffiti workshops here because the local youth have such a rich cultural heritage to draw from. From the iconic Tusks on Moi Avenue to the deep blue of the Indian Ocean, there is inspiration around every corner. Street art in Kenya is booming, and being part of that movement gives young people a real sense of pride and ownership over their neighbourhoods.

Fun Fact: Did you know that the famous 'Mombasa Tusks' were originally built in 1952 to celebrate a visit by Queen Elizabeth II? Today, they are the ultimate symbol of the city—a perfect subject for a modern graffiti tribute!
