Do the kids need any prior art experience?

Absolutely! Our youth projects are designed for beginners. Our professional graffiti artists start with the basics, from safety and nozzle control to simple lettering techniques. We create a supportive environment where young people can experiment without fear of making 'mistakes.' It is all about the journey of learning a new skill and feeling the satisfaction of creating something bold and colourful from scratch. Everyone walks away with a masterpiece!

Is it safe for teenagers to use spray paint?

Safety is our number one priority. We provide high-quality protective gear, including gloves and masks, to ensure a safe environment. We also use low-pressure spray cans that are easier for younger hands to control. Our workshops in Kitale are always supervised by experienced artists who teach correct handling and ventilation practices. We make sure the environment is secure, organised, and professional so everyone can focus on having a blast.

What should the participants wear?

While we provide protective overalls, we always recommend that participants wear old clothes and shoes they don't mind getting a bit of 'artistic' character on. Spray paint is permanent, and while we take every precaution, a little stray mist is always possible during a high-energy youth project! Think comfortable outdoorsy gear that allows for plenty of movement while your group is busy creating their mural.

How long does a youth graffiti workshop usually last?

A typical Kitale youth project lasts between 1.5 to 3 hours. We can tailor the duration to fit your specific schedule or event needs. For larger community murals, we might even span the project over two days to allow for more intricate designs and deeper skill-building sessions. We are flexible and will work with you to find the perfect timing for your energetic group!

Can you bring the workshop to our specific location in Kitale?

Yes, we are fully mobile! While we have preferred spots, we can bring the entire graffiti experience to your youth centre, school, or community space in Kitale. As long as we have a well-ventilated area or an outdoor space with permission to paint, we can set up our mobile 'street art studio' anywhere. We bring the boards, the paint, and the protection—you just bring the energy!

What makes your youth projects different from a standard art class?

Our workshops are highly interactive and collaborative. Beyond just painting, we often include brainstorming sessions where the youth decide on a theme or a 'crew name.' We also offer digital tools like our Tag Creator and Workshop Quiz to get the creative juices flowing before they even pick up a can. It is a social, high-energy experience that builds confidence and teamwork through the lens of urban culture.

The experience

Why choose a graffiti workshop for your next youth initiative in Kitale? It is more than just paint on a wall; it’s about giving young people a voice in their own city. Here is why our workshops are the top choice for local organisations:

Boosts self-esteem: Seeing a massive piece of art they helped create gives kids an incredible sense of achievement. ✨
Teamwork in action: You can't finish a mural alone! Our projects teach collaboration and communication in a fun, hands-on way.
Safe & professional: We use high-quality gear and our artists are experts at managing groups of all ages and sizes.
Zero cancellation risk: We have a roster of backup artists to ensure your Kitale event goes ahead no matter what. 🏆
Creative problem solving: From choosing colours to scaling designs, graffiti challenges the brain in the best way possible.
Modern & relevant: Street art speaks the language of today's youth, making it way more engaging than traditional crafts.

Step by step

Initial spark: We start with a quick intro to street art history and the 'rules of the road' regarding safety and respect.
Design session: The group brainstorms themes—what does Kitale mean to them? We sketch out ideas on paper first.
Gear up: Everyone gets fitted with gloves, masks, and protective gear. Safety first before the fun begins!
Can control: Our pros demonstrate how to hold the can, change nozzles, and manage pressure for different effects.
Outline phase: We move to the wall or canvas to lay down the 'bones' of the piece using light strokes.
Colour fill: This is the high-energy part! Participants work together to fill in the designs with vibrant colours.
The glow-up: We teach how to add shadows, highlights, and that professional '3D' pop to the artwork.
Final outlines: Adding the sharp black outlines that make graffiti art truly stand out.
The reveal: A group photo with the finished masterpiece! Everyone celebrates their collective hard work and creativity.

Good to know

Duration: Usually 1.5 to 3 hours, but we can extend for multi-day mural projects.
Group sizes: We cater to everything from small groups of 10 to large-scale community events with 50+ participants.
Everything included: We provide all professional spray cans, caps, safety masks, gloves, and painting surfaces.
Safety first: Led by pros with full safety briefings and protective gear provided for every single participant.
Weather: We have backup plans! If it rains in Kitale, we can work under gazebos or shift to indoor-friendly canvases.
Payment: No stress! Pay after the workshop once you are 100% satisfied with the experience.

Local culture

Kitale is a city of incredible growth and natural beauty, situated right in the heart of Kenya's 'breadbasket.' While it is famous for its lush landscapes and the stunning Mount Elgon nearby, we believe the urban spaces of the city deserve just as much colour! Street art in Kitale is a growing movement, offering a fresh way for the youth to connect with their community culture beyond the traditional agric-roots. Our projects aim to tap into that local Trans-Nzoia pride, blending modern urban styles with the vibrant spirit of the region.

Fun fact: Kitale is home to the first National Museum established in Kenya! We love drawing inspiration from the rich heritage found there and mixing it with futuristic graffiti styles.

Whether we are setting up near the bustling town centre or in a quieter residential area, we bring a vibe that matches Kitale’s hospitable and energetic atmosphere. Let's turn those grey walls into a celebration of local talent!
