How it works

  1. The meet & greet: Meet your local artist guide at our creative zone. We’ll start with a quick intro to the history of street art and the tools of the trade. 🎉
  2. Design your tag: Grab a sketchpad and start brainstorming. Use our 'Tag Creator' tool or get 1-on-1 advice from the pro to sketch out your initial ideas. ✍️
  3. Safety first: Suit up in your protective gear. We provide overalls, gloves, and professional masks to keep you safe and clean. 🛡️
  4. Can control 101: Learn the basics. We’ll teach you how to hold the can, swap nozzles (caps) for different effects, and master your distance from the wall. 🔥
  5. Practice run: Time to hit the practice wall. You’ll get a feel for the spray pressure and practice making straight lines, circles, and fades. 💨
  6. Fill-ins & outlines: Start on your main masterpiece. Fill in your shapes with vibrant colours and then add that sharp 'power line' outline to make it pop. ✨
  7. The finishing touches: Add shines, shadows, and 'drips' to give your work that authentic street art character. Our artist will show you the pro secrets. 🎤
  8. Photo op & reveal: Step back and admire your work! Grab some epic photos for the 'gram before we help you pack up your canvas to take home. 📸

Frequently asked questions

Do I need any prior art experience to join?

Not at all! Our workshops are designed for everyone from absolute beginners to seasoned creatives. Most of our visitors have never held a spray can before. Our professional artists will guide you through the basics of nozzle control, lines, and shading, ensuring you feel confident and walk away with a piece of art you're actually proud of. It’s all about having a blast and trying something new! 🎨

What should I wear to the graffiti workshop?

We’ve got you covered! We provide high-quality masks, gloves, and protective overalls to keep your clothes clean. However, spray paint is permanent and can be unpredictable, so we still recommend wearing casual clothes and shoes that you don't mind getting a tiny bit of 'artistic' residue on. It’s best to leave the designer gear at the hotel for this adventure! ✨

Is the workshop safe?

The safety of our guests is our top priority. We use low-pressure spray cans which are easier to control and provide professional-grade respiratory masks for all participants. Our workshops are held in well-ventilated areas or outdoors. Our lead artists are highly experienced in managing groups and will give a comprehensive safety briefing before anyone starts spraying. You're in very safe, professional hands. 🛡️

Can children participate in the workshop?

Absolutely! We love hosting families. Graffiti is a fantastic way for kids and teens to express themselves in a controlled, fun environment. Generally, we recommend a minimum age of around 6 or 7 years so they can comfortably handle the spray cans. It’s a brilliant way to spend a morning together in Queenstown, creating memories (and art) that last long after the holiday ends. 🏆

What happens if it rains on the day?

Queenstown weather can be a bit 'four seasons in one day.' If the weather isn't playing ball for an outdoor session, we often have covered or indoor backup locations available. Because we have a large team of backup artists, we almost never cancel. If things get really wild, we'll work with you to reschedule or find a solution that keeps the creative vibes flowing! 🌦️

How long does the session usually last?

Standard tourist workshops usually run between 1.5 to 2 hours. This gives us enough time for the intro, practicing your techniques, and then executing your final masterpiece. If you have a larger group or want a more in-depth masterclass experience, we can easily extend the session to 3 hours. We keep things moving at a fun pace so you still have time for your next Queenstown adrenaline fix! ⏱️

Do I need to pay in advance?

No upfront payment is required when you book your workshop with us. We believe in the quality of our experience, so you can pay after the workshop is completed. This keeps things flexible for your travel plans. We accept various payment methods on-site, making it easy and stress-free to get your graffiti fix while you're visiting the adventure capital. 💳
