Looking for a way to engage the rangatahi of Queenstown with something truly epic? Our graffiti youth projects in Queenstown are all about giving young people a voice through the vibrant medium of street art. Far from just 'spraying walls', these workshops are designed to build confidence, foster teamwork, and teach real artistic skills under the guidance of world-class professional artists. Whether it’s for a community centre, a school holiday program, or a local youth group, we bring a high-energy, creative atmosphere that kids actually want to be a part of. Queenstown is world-famous for its adrenaline-pumping activities, and we reckon there’s nothing quite as exhilarating as picking up a spray can for the first time and creating something massive and colourful. Step by step

  1. Intro & inspiration: We start with a quick yarn about the history of street art and look at some epic examples to get the creative juices flowing.
  2. Safety briefing: We suit everyone up in protective gear and explain how to use the equipment responsibly and safely.
  3. Mastering the 'can': Our artists demonstrate 'can control', showing how distance and pressure change your lines from thin to fuzzy.
  4. Sketching the design: Participants grab markers or light spray to outline their ideas onto the boards or walls.
  5. Filling in the colour: This is where the magic happens! We teach layering techniques to make the colours pop and blend.
  6. Outlining & detailing: We go back over the edges to sharpen the image and add those professional touches like highlights and shadows.
  7. The 'Tag' finale: Every artist needs a signature. We help the kids create their own unique tag to sign off on their masterpiece.
  8. Group photo & cleanup: We celebrate the hard work with a group photo in front of the finished mural before tidying up the gear.

Local culture

Street art in Queenstown

Queenstown might be known as the "Adventure Capital of the World," but there is a growing creative pulse beneath the snow-capped Remarkables. While the town is famous for bungy jumping and skiing, the local youth culture is increasingly turning to street art to express their connection to this stunning landscape. From hidden gems in industrial areas to community art initiatives near the lakefront, urban art is becoming a key part of the Queenstown identity.

Fun Fact: Did you know that Queenstown was originally named 'The Camp' before being renamed because it was 'fit for a Queen'? We think our murals add a bit of 'royal' flair to the local streets too! 🏔️

We love working in the Otago region, drawing inspiration from the turquoise waters of Lake Wakatipu and the rugged mountain ranges to help local kids create art that reflects their home.
