Do I need any prior artistic experience to join?

Absolutely not! Our Kisumu onboarding workshop is designed for everyone, from people who can't draw a straight line to seasoned hobbyists. Our professional street artists will guide you through the basics of spray can control, lettering, and filling. You’ll be amazed at the high-quality mural you can produce with just a little bit of expert coaching and the right technique. It’s all about the experience and the fun!

Is the graffiti workshop safe and what should I wear?

We use high-quality spray paints, but we always stay on the side of caution. We provide all participants with protective overalls, gloves, and high-quality masks to ensure you don't get paint on your clothes or inhale fumes. The workshop is held in well-ventilated outdoor or semi-outdoor spaces in Kisumu. Safety is our top priority, so you can focus entirely on your creative flow without any worries.

How long does the graffiti workshop usually last?

A standard onboarding session usually lasts between 1.5 to 3 hours. This gives us enough time for a brief history of street art, a safety demo, practice sessions on plastic film, and then the final creation of your masterpiece. If you have a specific schedule or timeframe to stick to for your event in Kisumu, just let us know and we can tailor the duration to fit!

What is the minimum and maximum group size?

We are incredibly flexible! Whether you are a small team of 10 or a large corporate group of 150+, we can accommodate you. For very large groups, we bring in multiple professional artists to ensure everyone gets enough individual attention and coaching. We have a solid roster of backup artists in Kenya, so your event is guaranteed to go ahead regardless of group size.

What happens if it rains on the day of the workshop?

Kisumu’s weather is usually beautiful, but if it rains, we’ve got options. We can move the workshop to a covered outdoor area or use large pop-up marquees. In some cases, we can even move the session indoors if the venue allows for proper ventilation and floor protection. We always monitor the forecast and will coordinate with you to ensure the workshop happens, rain or shine.

Do I need to pay in advance to book?

One of the best things about Graffitifun is our 'no stress' booking policy. You don't have to pay anything upfront to secure your date in Kisumu. You can pay after the workshop is completed and you are 100% satisfied with the result. We believe in the quality of our service and want you to feel completely confident when booking your creative experience with us.

Can we take our artwork home with us?

Yes! While many of our workshops involve communal murals, we can also arrange for participants to spray on individual canvases. This is a popular option for onboarding workshops because it allows everyone to take their own unique piece of Kisumu street art home to hang in their office or home. Just let us know your preference when requesting your personalized quote.

The experience

Why choose a graffiti workshop for your next team event in Kisumu? Because nothing builds a bond quite like creating a massive piece of art together! It's the perfect antidote to traditional "bored-room" meetings. Check out these benefits:

Unleash hidden talent: Watch your colleagues discover artistic skills they never knew they had.
Total inclusivity: Street art is for everyone, regardless of age, background, or physical fitness.
Stress relief: There is something incredibly therapeutic and satisfying about the sound and flow of a spray can.
Visual branding: Create a mural that reflects your company values in a way a PowerPoint never could.
Memorable onboarding: Give new hires a "day one" story they’ll still be talking about in five years.
Professional guidance: Our Kisumu-based artists are masters of the craft and great at teaching. 💪

Step by step

Introduction and history: We kick things off with a high-energy intro into the world of graffiti culture and the evolution of street art.
Safety briefing: Your safety is key. We suit you up in protective gear and explain how to use the spray cans and masks properly.
First lines: Start by practicing basic techniques like "tags" and "throws" on practice walls or film to get a feel for the pressure of the nozzle.
Design phase: Work with our artists to sketch out a concept that fits your onboarding goals or your brand's personality.
Outlining: It’s time to hit the main wall! You’ll start by sketching the skeleton of your large-scale piece.
Filling and blending: Learn how to use different "caps" to create smooth fills, gradients, and vibrant colour transitions.
The finishing touches: Add those sharp "second outlines," highlights, and details that make the artwork pop and look professional.
The big reveal: Step back and admire the collective masterpiece you’ve created right here in the heart of Kisumu.
Group photo: Capture the moment with a team photo in front of your new mural—the perfect souvenir of your creative journey!

Local culture

Kisumu, the "City of the Lake," is a place of incredible sunsets and even more incredible creative potential. While it’s famous for the serene shores of Lake Victoria and its legendary fish dishes, a new urban energy is pulsing through the city. By choosing a graffiti workshop here, you're tapping into the same vibrant spirit that flows through the local markets and the bustling streets of the CBD. We love hosting workshops in Kisumu because the light reflecting off the water provides the perfect backdrop for vibrant spray paint colours. 🌅

Fun Fact: Did you know that Kisumu was originally named 'Port Florence'? Today, it's the creative hub of Western Kenya, and street art is becoming a powerful tool for local storytelling and community building! 🇰🇪

Whether we're setting up near Dunga Beach or a central industrial space, our workshops celebrate the unique "Kisumu vibe"—laid back, friendly, and always ready for something new. Join us and contribute to the growing street art legacy of the Lakeside City! 🎤🔥
