Step by step

  1. The Masterclass Intro: Our pro artists kick things off with a high-energy talk about the history of street art and how it turned from 'tags' into the global art movement we see in Cape Town today.
  2. Safety First: We gear up! Every student gets briefed on how to use the equipment safely and fits their protective masks and gloves.
  3. Design & Sketching: Before the paint flies, learners grab paper and pencils to sketch out their ideas, focusing on letter structure and 'wild style' concepts.
  4. Can Control 101: We head to the 'practice wall' where kids learn the magic of nozzle pressure—making thin lines, fat drips, and smooth fades.
  5. The Big Outline: Time to hit the boards! Students transfer their sketches to their canvas or board using their first layer of spray paint.
  6. Filling in the Colour: This is where the magic happens. We guide the kids through choosing bold colour combinations to make their pieces pop.
  7. Adding the 3D & Highlights: We teach the 'pro' tricks, like adding shadows and white highlights to give their graffiti depth and life.
  8. The Final Outline: The 'power line'—a final crisp outline to bring the whole masterpiece together.
  9. The Gallery Walk: We finish with a group showcase where everyone gets to admire each other's work and snap some epic photos!

Local culture

Street art in Cape Town

Cape Town isn't just a city; it's a living, breathing canvas. From the iconic protest art of the District Six era to the world-renowned murals of Woodstock and Salt River, street art is woven into the DNA of the Mother City. Taking a graffiti workshop here isn't just about paint—it's about connecting with a local culture that celebrates diversity and voice.

Fun Fact: Did you know that Cape Town hosts the International Public Art Festival (IPAF)? Every year, artists from all over the world join local legends to transform city walls into masterpieces, making it one of the most Instagrammable cities on earth! 📸

Our workshops often draw inspiration from the flora and fauna of Table Mountain or the bright houses of the Bo-Kaap, helping Cape Town learners appreciate the beauty of their own backyard through a new artistic lens.
