Is the graffiti workshop safe for primary school children?

Security is our top priority! We use high-quality spray paint and provide all necessary safety gear, including specialized masks and gloves. Our professional artists are experienced in working with primary school learners and maintain a strictly supervised environment. We also ensure the workspace is well-ventilated, making the entire experience safe and enjoyable for every student involved. Parents and teachers can rest easy knowing the kids are in expert hands.

Do the learners need any prior art experience?

Not at all! Our Kimberley workshops are designed for absolute beginners. Our artists guide the kids through every step, from basic line work to filling in colours. We focus on 'fun over perfection,' ensuring every child feels like a pro by the end of the session. It’s amazing to see how quickly their confidence grows once they realize there are no mistakes in street art!

What should the students wear to the workshop?

We recommend that learners wear old clothes that they don't mind getting a bit of paint on. While we provide protective aprons or suits, spray paint can be unpredictable when kids get enthusiastic! Comfortable sneakers are also a must as they will be on their feet creating their masterpieces. Think of it as a 'creative mess' day where the focus is on fun!

What materials are included in the primary school package?

We provide everything! This includes premium spray cans in a rainbow of colours, protective masks, gloves, and the 'canvas' (which could be a wall, boards, or individual canvases). We also bring stencils and various caps for the cans to help the kids achieve different effects. You just need to provide the space and the eager young artists; we handle the rest of the setup and cleanup.

How long does a typical workshop session last?

A typical primary school workshop in Kimberley lasts between 1.5 to 2 hours. This is the 'sweet spot' for keeping younger children engaged without them getting tired. We start with a quick intro and demo, followed by hands-on practice, and end with the creation of a final group mural or individual pieces that they can be proud of.

Can you host workshops at schools outside of central Kimberley?

Absolutely! We love traveling across the Northern Cape. While we are based in the heart of Kimberley, we can bring our mobile graffiti studio to schools in surrounding areas like Ritchie, Barkly West, or Douglas. Just let us know your location when requesting a quote, and we will make a plan to bring the street art magic to your doorstep!

Can the children work on movable boards instead of a wall?

Yes, we do! While many schools love the idea of a permanent mural on a school wall, we can also work on large wooden boards or individual canvases. Working on boards is a great option if you want to move the artwork later or display it in different parts of the school. We are flexible and will adapt the workshop to suit your school's facilities.

The experience

Why choose a graffiti workshop for your Kimberley primary school? Beyond the obvious fun, it’s a powerful educational tool that resonates with kids in a way traditional art classes sometimes don't. Our sessions help build confidence and encourage out-of-the-box thinking. 🏆

Boosts fine motor skills: Controlling a spray can takes focus and coordination—great for developing hands!
Encourages teamwork: Creating a large-scale mural requires students to communicate and work together towards a common goal. 🤝
Safe & professional: We provide top-tier safety gear and professional artists who are great with kids.
No-stress booking: With no upfront payment and backup artists ready to go, your school event is in safe hands.
Cultural relevance: It connects kids to a global art movement while allowing them to express their local identity. 🔥
Sense of pride: There’s nothing like the "wow" factor when a student sees their work displayed on a massive scale.

Step by step

The introduction: Our professional artists arrive at your Kimberley school and kick things off with a high-energy demo and a brief history of street art culture.
Safety first: We suit everyone up in protective gear and explain the safe way to handle spray cans and nozzles.
Mastering the lines: Students start by practicing basic techniques like 'tags' and 'flicks' on practice surfaces to get a feel for the pressure.
Colour blending: We teach the kids how to layer colours and create cool gradients that make their art pop.
The big design: The class works together to sketch out a giant mural design or plans their individual masterpieces.
Filling it in: This is the fun part! The learners use their new skills to fill in the design with vibrant South African colours.
The finishing touches: Our artists help the kids add outlines and highlights to give the work a professional finish.
The grand reveal: We step back to admire the collective hard work and take photos of the amazing new school art!

We’ve structured our workshops to be as hassle-free as possible for teachers and school administrators. Here is what you can expect:

Local culture

Kimberley is a city built on grit and treasures, and we believe there is a hidden gem of creativity in every student here! Known for the Big Hole and its deep history, Kimberley provides the perfect backdrop for modern street art that looks toward the future. We love incorporating local "Northern Cape vibes" into our designs, often using the warm oranges and deep blues of our local sunsets. 🎨

Fun Fact: Did you know that Kimberley was the first city in the Southern Hemisphere to have electric street lights? We like to think our vibrant neon graffiti colors are just the modern way of keeping the city bright and buzzing! ✨

Whether your school is near the city centre or closer to the quiet suburbs of Hadison Park, we bring the energy and passion of the global street art scene right to your doorstep. It’s about more than just paint; it’s about claiming a piece of Kimberley’s evolving cultural landscape.
