Step by step

  1. Introduction & Safety: We start with a quick meet-and-greet and a safety kitting-up session with masks and gloves.
  2. Graffiti History: A short, snappy talk about how street art evolved from tags to the massive murals you see around the CBD.
  3. Can Control 101: Learning the ropes! How to hold the can, swap nozzles (caps), and manage finger pressure for different effects.
  4. Mastering Lines: Practising thin lines, fat lines, and those tricky fades on our practice boards.
  5. Sketching the Concept: Scrawling out the main design on the canvas or wall using light 'sketch' colours.
  6. The Fill-In: Popping in the vibrant colours and learning how to blend shades like a pro.
  7. The Outline: Adding that crisp black outline that makes the whole piece jump out and grab your attention.
  8. Highlights & Details: Putting on the finishing touches—think sparkles, 'drips', and sharp white highlights.
  9. Photo Op: Posing with the finished masterpiece for the ultimate 'Gram-worthy shot before heading home!

Local culture

Street art in Auckland

Auckland’s street art scene is absolutely buzzing, from the iconic murals in Karangahape Road (K' Road) to the hidden gems tucked away in Ponsonby and Britomart. Our workshops tap into this unique Tāmaki Makaurau energy, teaching kids that urban art is a powerful form of storytelling and community pride. We often take inspiration from the incredible local talent that has transformed our city's laneways into world-class galleries.

Fun Fact: Did you know Auckland hosts several street art festivals where international and local artists turn entire building facades into masterpieces? Keep your eyes peeled next time you're walking through the CBD—you might just spot a piece from one of our workshop mentors! 🇳🇿🔥

Pricing

Our Auckland workshop prices typically range from NZ$45 to NZ$95 per person. The final price depends on the number of participants, the length of the session, and whether we're using individual canvases or a giant shared mural wall.

The best part? No upfront payment is required! We believe in our experience so much that you only pay once the workshop is done. 🎉
