Step by step

  1. Intro & inspiration: We start with a quick, high-energy chat about the history of street art and how it turned into a global art form.
  2. Safety briefing: Kids learn how to handle the cans properly and get fitted with their protective masks and gear.
  3. Mastering the nozzle: Our artists demonstrate different techniques, from 'fat caps' for filling to 'skinny caps' for crisp outlines.
  4. Practising the flow: Students get their first taste of spraying on a practice wall to get used to the pressure and movement.
  5. Design phase: Working together, the class plans their mural or individual pieces, choosing colors and layout.
  6. The big paint: The real fun begins! Everyone works on the main project, layering colors and adding textures.
  7. Adding the details: We show the kids how to add highlights and outlines to make their artwork 'pop' off the wall.
  8. The grand reveal: We take a group photo with the finished masterpiece—a proud moment for every young artist!
  9. Tidy up: Our team handles all the cleanup, leaving your Auckland school site exactly as we found it.

Local culture

Street art in Auckland

Auckland is a city bursting with creative energy, from the iconic murals in Karangahape Road to the hidden gems in the back alleys of Britomart. Our workshops tap into this local 'Vibe', teaching tamariki that art isn't just something you see in an expensive gallery—it's something that lives on our streets and tells our stories. We often incorporate local Māori motifs or Pacific-inspired patterns into our designs to keep things grounded in Aotearoa culture.

Fun Fact: Did you know Auckland hosts some of the best street art festivals in the Southern Hemisphere? Many of the artists you see on high-street buildings started out just like your students—with a single can and a big imagination!
