Is the graffiti workshop safe for children during the school holidays?

Absolutely! We prioritize safety above all else. We provide all participants with high-quality protective gear, including gloves and masks. Our professional instructors are experts at teaching kids and teens how to handle spray cans responsibly. We use low-odor, high-quality paints, and all workshops take place in well-ventilated or outdoor environments to ensure a safe, creative atmospheric for everyone involved.

Do I need to have any drawing skills to participate?

No prior art experience or "talent" is needed! Our Philadelphia workshop is designed specifically for beginners. Our artists will guide you through the process step-by-step, from holding the can to master complex techniques. Whether you're a stick-figure artist or a budding Van Gogh, you'll leave with a piece of art you're genuinely proud of. It's all about having fun and trying something new!

What should I wear to the graffiti workshop?

We recommend wearing old clothes and sneakers that you don't mind getting a little paint on. While we provide protective ponchos and gloves, graffiti can be a bit messy, and stray paint mist sometimes finds its way onto shoes or sleeves. Think "DIY project" attire—comfortable, practical, and ready for some vibrant Philadelphia street art action!

How long does the graffiti session last?

A standard school holiday workshop usually lasts between 1.5 to 2 hours. This gives us enough time for a brief history of street art, a demonstration of techniques, and plenty of hands-on painting time. If you have a larger group or want a more intensive experience, we can certainly extend the session to fit your needs. It's the perfect length to stay engaged without getting tired.

What happens if it rains on the day of our outdoor workshop?

Great question! If the weather in Philly doesn't cooperate, we have flexible options. Many of our locations have indoor spaces or covered areas where we can safely spray. If that's not possible, we can reschedule your workshop or look at alternative indoor creative activities. We’ll always communicate with you ahead of time to make sure the "City of Brotherly Love" doesn't rain on your parade!

Are all materials included in the workshop price?

Everything is included in the price! We provide the spray cans in a wide variety of colors, specialized nozzles (caps) for different effects, protective gear, and the surfaces we’ll be painting on (like canvases or boards). You just need to bring your creativity and energy. There are no hidden fees or extra material costs to worry about once you arrive.

Can I take my artwork home with me after the workshop?

While we often work on large communal walls for the "big picture" experience, we also provide individual canvases or boards for school holiday participants. This means you can take your unique masterpiece home to show off to friends and family or hang it on your bedroom wall as a souvenir of your creative break in Philadelphia!

Local culture

Philadelphia isn't just a city; it's an open-air gallery. Known as the "Mural Capital of the World," Philly has a deep-rooted love for public art that dates back to the 80s. Our workshops tap into this local spirit, moving beyond the museums and into the creative energy of neighborhoods like Fishtown and South Philly. We don't just teach you how to paint; we connect you to the heartbeat of a city where every corner tells a story through color.

Fun Fact: Philadelphia has over 4,000 murals! The Mural Arts Program here started as an anti-graffiti initiative but turned the city into a global destination for street art fans.
