Is the graffiti workshop safe for secondary school students?

Absolutely! Safety is our top priority for every secondary school session in Strasbourg. We provide high-quality respiratory masks, disposable gloves, and protective suits to keep students safe and their school uniforms clean. Our professional artists lead a comprehensive safety briefing before anyone touches a spray can, ensuring a controlled, respectful, and responsible environment for everyone involved throughout the entire creative process.

Where in Strasbourg do the workshops take place?

We are incredibly flexible! We can host the workshop at your school premises in Strasbourg using mobile wooden walls, or we can arrange for the group to visit an authentic local legal graffiti zone. If you prefer an indoor session, we can use special low-odour water-based spray cans or work on individual canvases. We'll chat with you beforehand to decide which setup works best for your specific school layout.

How much does a secondary school workshop cost?

The cost typically ranges between €30 and €65 per student. This depends on factors like the total number of participants, the duration of the workshop, and whether we are using professional canvases or large-scale wooden partitions. Because every school group has different needs, we recommend requesting a custom quote so we can give you an accurate price that fits your department's budget.

Do students need prior artistic experience or drawing skills?

Not at all! Our workshops are designed for all skill levels. Our artists are experts at breaking down complex street art techniques into simple, manageable steps. Whether a student is a natural illustrator or has never held a spray can before, they will finish the session with a piece of art they are proud of and a massive boost in creative confidence. Even the teachers are surprised by what they can create!

How long does a typical workshop session last?

A standard workshop for secondary schools lasts between 1.5 and 3 hours. This provides enough time for the history talk, safety briefing, technique practice, and the final creation of the masterpiece. We can easily adjust the timing to fit into your school's double-period slots or make it a full-day 'art immersion' event for larger year groups. Just let us know your schedule!

Can students take their artwork home with them?

Yes! While we often focus on a collaborative mural that stays at the school, we can also set up the session so every student works on their own high-quality canvas. This is a brilliant option for secondary schools as it allows students to take their artwork home or display it in their own bedroom. It's a fantastic way to give them a physical reminder of their creative achievement.

The experience

Why choose a graffiti workshop for your students?

Secondary school can be a high-pressure time. Our workshops offer a much-needed creative release while ticking all the boxes for a high-impact educational experience. Here is why Strasbourg schools love working with us:

Boosts confidence: Watch even the quietest students find their flow and take pride in their work. 🔥
Pure teamwork: Collaborative murals require communication, planning, and mutual respect.
Hands-on history: We dive into the origins of graffiti, from New York subways to the streets of France.
Risk-free booking: With our backup artist policy and 'pay later' system, your school trip is in safe hands.
Curriculum friendly: Perfect for Art & Design modules, cultural studies, or an end-of-term reward.
Expert mentors: Our artists aren't just talented; they're great at connecting with teenagers. 🎤

Step by step

Initial briefing: We start with a high-energy intro about graffiti culture and how it evolved into modern street art.
Design & sketching: Students grab pens and paper to brainstorm their 'tags' or symbols, focusing on letter structure and style.
Safety first: Everyone gets geared up in masks and suits while we explain the dos and don'ts of using spray cans safely.
The first spray: Under expert guidance, students practice basic lines, dots, and pressure control on practice boards.
Filling & fading: We teach the secrets of 'filling in' and creating those cool colour gradients that make graffiti pop.
The outline: Students learn the steady hand required to add the final 'power line' outline to their letters.
Adding highlights: We show them how to add 'shine' and 3D effects to give their artwork depth and professional polish.
Final masterpiece: The students combine their skills to finish their individual pieces or a giant collaborative mural.
Photo op & cleanup: We wrap up with a group photo of the crew and their work, leaving the area spotless and the kids buzzing.

Local culture

Strasbourg isn't just about half-timbered houses and the EU Parliament; it’s a city with a thriving, sophisticated street art soul! From the colourful 'M.U.R.' in the Krutenau district to the incredible legal walls along the Canal du Rhône au Rhin, the city is a living gallery. In our workshops, we tap into this unique Alsatian urban vibe, showing students how local heritage meets modern expression.

Fun Fact: Did you know Strasbourg hosts the 'NL Contest', an international urban culture festival? Our workshops bring that same world-class energy to your school yard! 🎨
