Is the graffiti workshop safe for secondary school students?

The safety of your students is our absolute priority. We provide high-quality FFP3 respiratory masks, protective gloves, and disposable overalls to keep everyone safe and clean. Our instructors are professional artists with extensive experience in leading school groups, ensuring that the workshop is conducted in a controlled, safe environment while still being incredibly fun and engaging. We use low-odour, professional-grade spray paint designed for artistic use.

Do the students need any prior art skills or experience?

Absolutely! Our workshops are designed to be inclusive and beginner-friendly. Our artists guide the students through every single step, from holding the can correctly to mastering complex shading. No prior drawing or painting skill is required to create something they will be proud of. It is all about the process, experimentation, and finding their own creative voice in a supportive environment. Everyone leaves with a sense of achievement!

What should the students wear on the day?

We recommend wearing old clothes and comfortable shoes that you don't mind getting a bit of 'art' on! While we provide full protective body suits and gloves, spray paint can be unpredictable, and it's best to be safe. Since Timișoara has lovely weather but can get breezy, students should bring an extra layer if we are working outdoors. We provide all the specialized equipment, including cans and safety gear.

Can we link the workshop to a specific school subject or theme?

Yes! We can tailor the workshop to fit with your current curriculum. Whether you are studying modern art history, social justice, typography, or urban geography, we can incorporate these themes into the design phase. It’s a fantastic way to bring classroom theory to life through a physical, creative medium. Just let us know your goals when booking, and we’ll make it happen!

How long does a typical session last?

The duration is flexible to fit your school timetable, but most secondary school workshops last between 2 and 3 hours. This allows enough time for a proper introduction, safety briefing, technique practice, and the creation of a final large-scale piece. We can adjust the pace depending on whether it is a quick transition year activity or a more intensive, half-day art deep dive.

Where in Timișoara do the workshops take place?

We are very flexible! We can host the workshop at your school (on a wall, boarding, or plastic wrap stretched between pillars) if you have a suitable outdoor space. Alternatively, we can arrange for the session to take place at one of Timișoara’s many inspiring legal street art locations or a dedicated studio space. We love taking students out into the city to soak up the local urban culture!

What is the maximum group size you can accommodate?

We usually keep a ratio of one professional artist per 15-20 students to ensure everyone gets individual attention and guidance. For larger year groups, we simply bring more artists! This ensures that the energy stays high and the quality of the artwork remains top-notch. Our backup artist system also means your event will never be cancelled due to staff illness—we always have a professional ready to step in.

The experience

Why choose a graffiti workshop for your students in Timișoara? It’s more than just painting; it’s about building confidence and community. 🚀

🔥 Boosts Creative Confidence: Students who don't 'click' with traditional art often find their voice in the bold world of graffiti.
🤝 Teamwork & Collaboration: Creating a large-scale mural requires communication, planning, and working together toward a shared goal.
🎓 Curriculum Friendly: Our sessions can be linked to Art & Design, History, or even Social Studies.
🏆 Professional Mentorship: Students learn directly from active, professional artists who share life skills and career paths in the creative industries.
🌟 Stress Relief: The physical nature of spray painting is a fantastic outlet for teenage energy and stress.
📸 Incredible Portfolio Pieces: Students walk away with photos of their work that look amazing in any art portfolio or school display.

Step by step

Introduction & Safety: We start with a high-energy intro about the history of graffiti and a vital safety briefing on how to use the equipment properly.
Can Control 101: Students learn the basics of holding the spray can, adjusting pressure, and understanding how different nozzles (caps) create different lines.
Sketching the Vision: Using paper and markers, students draw out their ideas, focusing on letter structure, flow, and the 'Timișoara style'.
First Lines: Everyone moves to the practice surface to get a feel for the paint, practicing tags and basic outlines to build confidence.
The Masterpiece Begins: The group starts on the main project—whether it's individual canvases or a massive collaborative mural.
Colour & Fill: This is where the magic happens! Students learn about colour theory, gradients, and how to make their art pop with vibrant fills.
Outlining & Detailing: Our pros show how to add the 'power line' and 'inline' details that give graffiti its professional, sharp look.
Final Touches: Students add highlights and 'flashing' effects to finish their work, followed by a group photo session with their creation.
Clean Up & Reflection: We wrap up by tidying the site and having a quick chat about what everyone learned and achieved during the day.

Local culture

Timișoara isn't just the 'City of Flowers'; it's a burgeoning hub for Romanian street art! Since being the European Capital of Culture, the city has seen its walls come alive with incredible murals that blend history with modern rebellion. We take inspiration from the local legends and the vibrant murals found near the Bega River and the Fabric district. Our workshops tap into this local energy, teaching students about the transition from underground 'writing' to the respected public art seen across Timișoara today. 🏙️

Fun Fact: Did you know Timișoara was the first city in mainland Europe to have electric street lighting? We like to think our neon spray paint carries on that tradition of brightening up the streets! ✨
