Is the graffiti workshop safe for participants with sensory sensitivities?

Absolutely! Safety is our number one priority. We use high-quality, professional-grade spray paints and provide all necessary protective equipment, including masks and gloves. Our instructors are specifically trained to lead special needs graffiti workshops in Garissa, ensuring a controlled, calm, and supervised environment where every participant can express themselves safely while having a blast.

Do we need any prior art experience to take part?

Not at all! Our workshops are designed for all skill levels, from total beginners to budding artists. We focus on the 'fun' in Graffitifun. Our artists guide the group through basic techniques like 'tagging' and 'filling' before moving on to the main masterpiece. No one is left behind, and everyone leaves feeling like a street art pro.

What materials are included in the Garissa workshop?

We take care of everything! We provide the spray cans, protective gear (suits/ponchos, masks, and gloves), and the 'canvas'—whether that's a professional mural wall or individual boards. We do recommend that participants wear comfortable clothing and shoes that they don't mind getting a tiny bit of paint on, just in case!

Where in Garissa do the workshops take place?

We are incredibly flexible! We can host the session at a dedicated local art space in Garissa, or we can bring the entire mobile workshop to your facility, school, or community centre. As long as there is a well-ventilated outdoor area or a high-ceilinged indoor space with proper airflow, we can make the magic happen anywhere.

How long does a typical session last?

Our standard special needs sessions typically last between 1.5 to 2 hours. We find this is the 'sweet spot' for maintaining high energy and engagement without causing fatigue. However, we can easily customise the duration to fit the specific attention spans or scheduling requirements of your group. Just let us know what works best for you!

How do we book a session and what is the payment process?

Booking is easy and stress-free. You can request a quote through our website or contact us directly. We don't require upfront payments, and we have backup artists on standby to ensure your event always goes ahead as planned. Once we've discussed your group's specific needs and size, we'll lock in a date that suits you.

The experience

Choosing a graffiti workshop for a special needs program is about more than just painting; it's about empowerment and sensory exploration. Here is why our Garissa sessions are so impactful:

Inclusive by design: We adapt our teaching methods to suit every participant's physical and cognitive needs. 🎨
Sensory-rich experience: The sound of the can, the vibrant colours, and the physical movement make it a fantastic motor-skills activity. 🔥
Confidence boosting: Seeing a large-scale piece of art that you helped create provides an enormous sense of achievement. 🏆
Safe and professional: Our instructors are not just artists; they are experienced facilitators who prioritise a calm and encouraging vibe. ✨
Mobile and flexible: We can bring the workshop to your doorstep in Garissa, making logistics a breeze for your organisation. 🚐
Memories that last: Every participant takes home their own work or helps create a permanent mural for the community to enjoy. 📸

Step by step

Initial consultation: Reach out to us to discuss the specific needs, group size, and interests of your participants so we can tailor the experience perfectly.
Design conceptualisation: Our artists prepare a simplified, high-impact design concept that ensures everyone can contribute to the final mural.
Safety briefing: We start the day with a friendly, easy-to-follow safety talk and demonstrate how to use the equipment properly.
Can control practice: Everyone gets a chance to 'test' the cans on practice boards, finding their rhythm and getting comfortable with the pressure.
Outline and background: Under the guidance of our pros, the group begins layering the background colours and filling in the main shapes.
Detailing and highlights: We add the 'pop'! Participants add their unique touches, splashes, and signatures to make the artwork truly theirs.
The big reveal: We take a moment to step back and admire the collective masterpiece, celebrating the hard work and creativity of every artist.
Clean up and photos: We handle the tidy-up and make sure you get plenty of high-quality photos of the group with their amazing new creation.

Local culture

Garissa is a city known for its vibrant energy and resilient community spirit. While traditional art has always been part of the local culture, the modern street art scene is a growing way for the youth and community groups to share their stories. Bringing a graffiti workshop to Garissa provides a fresh, contemporary outlet for creative expression that resonates with the city's dynamic atmosphere. We love seeing how the local light and the warmth of the community translate into the bold colours used in our sessions.

Fun fact: Did you know that Garissa is often called the "Gateway to North Eastern Kenya"? It’s a melting pot of cultures, making it the perfect place for an inclusive art project that brings everyone together! 🌍✨

Pricing

Our workshop packages are tailored to your specific requirements to ensure you get the best possible experience. Prices depend on group size, duration, and the setup you choose (e.g., individual canvases vs. a large shared mural). We believe in transparency and flexibility, which is why we offer a no upfront payment policy—you only pay after the workshop is complete!
