Is the spray paint safe for participants with sensitivities?

Absolutely. We use high quality, low odour professional spray paints whenever possible to ensure a comfortable breathing environment. We also provide full protective gear, including masks, gloves, and aprons, so everyone stays safe and clean during the workshop. Our artists are trained to monitor the environment and can take breaks or move outdoors if anyone feels overwhelmed by the sensory input of the paint.

Do we need any previous artistic experience to join in?

Not at all. We believe that everyone is an artist, regardless of their previous experience. Our skilled Merida workshop leaders are experts at breaking down complex street art techniques into simple, manageable steps. We focus on the joy of movement and the satisfaction of seeing bright colours on a canvas rather than perfect technical execution. It is all about the process and having a blast with the cans!

How long does the workshop usually take?

The beauty of our special needs programs is their flexibility. While a standard session usually lasts between 90 minutes and 2 hours, we can easily shorten or lengthen this to suit your group. If we notice participants are getting tired or have reached their focus limit, we can wrap up early. Conversely, if the creative energy is high, we love to keep the colours flowing for a bit longer.

Can you host the workshop at our own facility or school?

Yes, we are fully mobile! While we have great locations available in Merida, we can also bring the entire graffiti studio to your facility, school, or community centre. All we need is a well ventilated area or an outdoor space. We take care of all the floor and wall protection to ensure the venue stays exactly as we found it, minus the fresh creative energy!

What is the maximum group size for this program?

We believe in a very high staff to participant ratio for our special needs programs to ensure everyone gets the attention they deserve. Generally, we recommend groups of 5 to 15 people per artist, but we can accommodate much larger groups by bringing in additional professional artists from our backup team. This ensures a safe, calm, and supportive atmosphere for every single person involved.

Do we have to pay in advance for the session?

Safety and peace of mind are our top priorities. You do not need to pay anything upfront when you book your Merida workshop. We want you to feel completely confident in our service. You only pay after the workshop is completed and you are 100 percent satisfied with the experience. This keeps things stress free for organisers and ensures we always deliver our absolute best work.

What should participants wear on the day?

We suggest wearing clothes and shoes that you do not mind getting a little bit of paint on. Even though we provide protective aprons and gloves, graffiti can occasionally be a messy business when the creativity starts flying! Comfortable, closed toe shoes are best for stability while standing and spraying. Beyond that, just bring your enthusiasm and we will handle the rest of the supplies!

Local culture

Merida is a city famous for its colonial charm and "White City" reputation, but beneath the traditional architecture lies a pulsing heart of modern street art. From the vibrant murals near the Santa Ana neighbourhood to the creative pockets of the downtown district, Merida celebrates visual storytelling. Our workshops tap into this local passion for colour and culture, providing a bridge between the city's artistic history and its inclusive future. We love bringing the energy of Yucatan life into our sessions, often drawing inspiration from local nature and the bright hues found in the city's many plazas.

Fun Fact: Did you know that Merida was named the American Capital of Culture twice? It is the perfect place to explore inclusive art because the community here truly values creativity as a way of bringing people together! 🌟
