Do I need previous graffiti experience to take this training?

Absolutely! Whether you're a seasoned art teacher or a primary school generalist who feels nervous holding a spray can, our Brisbane training is designed for all levels. We start with the basics of nozzle control and safety before moving into complex mural techniques. Our goal is to give you the confidence to lead your own class, regardless of your personal artistic background.🎨

What safety protocols will we learn for the classroom?

Safety is our number one priority. We cover the correct use of protective gear, including masks and gloves, and discuss ventilation requirements for school settings. We also teach you how to set up a 'safe zone' for students, how to manage paint storage, and how to ensure the workshop environment remains professional and controlled at all times. Use of low-pressure cans is also covered to help beginners.✅

Will I receive a certificate for professional development hours?

Yes, all participants receive a Graffitifun Certificate of Completion. While specific PD accreditation can vary by school board, we provide a detailed breakdown of the skills learned and how they align with the Australian Curriculum (The Arts). This documentation is usually more than enough to satisfy professional development hours for your teaching portfolio or registration requirements.📜

What equipment do I need to bring to the workshop?

We provide everything! Your session includes all premium spray paint, various nozzles (caps), respirators, gloves, and practice surfaces. We even provide protective aprons, though we always recommend wearing 'work clothes' that you don't mind getting a few speckles of paint on. You'll also receive digital resource guides to take back to your school.🎒

How long does the teacher training session last?

Standard professional development sessions for teachers usually run between 2 and 3 hours. This allows enough time for the theory of street art culture, hands-on practice, and a final collaborative mural project. If you have a large staff group, we can customise the duration to fit into your scheduled PD days or after-school meeting slots.⏱️

Can you help with budgeting for school art supplies?

Definitely. Part of our training includes 'The Business of Street Art,' where we help you estimate paint quantities, source affordable materials, and choose the right surfaces (like temporary plywood walls or canvases) for your school. We want to ensure your school workshops are not only fun but also cost-effective and easy to clean up!💰

Do you come to our school or do we travel to you?

We are totally flexible! We can host your team at one of our vibrant outdoor street art locations in Brisbane, or our artist instructors can come directly to your school campus. Training on-site is often a great way for us to assess your specific facilities and show you exactly where and how a student workshop would work best in your environment.🏫

Can Control 101: Master the basic techniques of lines, dots, and fades. We show you how to teach these simple movements to students of all ages.
Lettering & Style: Dive into the world of 'tags', 'throw-ups', and 'pieces'. You'll learn how to help students develop their own unique artistic signature.
Stencil & Layering: We demonstrate how to incorporate stencils into your curriculum—a great way to help less confident students achieve amazing results.

Local culture

Brisbane’s street art scene is absolutely buzzing right now! From the iconic pillars under the Merivale Bridge to the hidden gems in the laneways of Fortitude Valley, Brissie has embraced mural culture like few other Australian cities. Our training sessions often draw inspiration from the Brisbane Street Art Festival (BSAF), showing you how local landmarks have been transformed by world-class artists. We love incorporating that 'Sunshine State' vibe into our palettes—think bright teals and golden yellows. 👋

Fun Fact: Did you know that Brisbane is home to some of the largest legal street art walls in the southern hemisphere? We'll show you how to find these local spots to take your students on the ultimate street art excursion!
