Do students need any prior art experience to participate?

Absolutely! No prior artistic experience is needed to enjoy our workshop in Tacuarembo. Our professional artists break down the process into simple, manageable steps. We focus on the "fun" in Graffitifun, ensuring that everyone, regardless of their drawing ability, walks away with a piece of art they are proud of and a huge smile on their face.

What safety measures do you have in place during the workshop?

Safety is our number one priority. We provide all necessary protective gear, including high-quality masks, gloves, and overalls to protect clothing. Our workshops are held in well-ventilated outdoor or indoor spaces, and we use professional-grade spray paints. Our instructors are trained to oversee the session, ensuring everyone follows safety protocols while having a great time.

How long does a typical university workshop session last?

A standard university workshop in Tacuarembo usually lasts between 1.5 to 3 hours. This timeframe allows for a comprehensive introduction, a practice session on plastic wrap or boards, and the final creation of a large-scale mural or individual canvases. We can also adapt the schedule to fit into a specific campus event or lecture block if required.

What is the minimum or maximum group size for a booking?

We are very flexible! We can accommodate small clubs of 10 people or large-scale university festivals with over 100 participants. For very large groups, we bring in additional backup artists to ensure everyone gets personal guidance and plenty of time with the spray cans. Just let us know your expected numbers when requesting a quote.

What happens if it rains on the day of our outdoor workshop?

Weather in Tacuarembo can be unpredictable, but we always have a plan B. If the weather turns, we can move the workshop to a covered outdoor area or an indoor space with proper ventilation. Because we have a network of backup artists, we almost never cancel a session—we make sure the creativity keeps flowing regardless of the clouds.

What materials are included in the workshop package?

We bring everything needed for the session! This includes a wide variety of spray paint colours, caps (nozzles), protective gear, and the surfaces for painting (like temporary walls or canvases). You just need to show up in comfortable clothes that you don't mind getting a little dusty, and we handle the rest of the logistics.

Can we choose a specific theme or location on campus for the mural?

Yes, definitely! We love it when universities want to create something lasting. If you have a specific wall on campus with permission for a permanent mural, our artists can lead the students in creating a professional-grade artwork. Alternatively, we can use temporary 'cellograff' walls (plastic wrap) which can be easily removed after the event without leaving a trace.

Step by step

Intro and safety briefing: We kick things off with a quick intro to the history of street art and a vital safety run-through regarding the equipment.
Mastering the nozzle: Students learn the 'finger-feel' of the spray can, practicing lines, dots, and fades to get comfortable with the medium.
Sketching the concept: Whether it's a collective mural or individual pieces, we help you sketch out your ideas on the canvas or wall.
Outline techniques: Learn how to create sharp, clean outlines that make your graffiti pop against the background.
Filling and blending: This is where the magic happens! We'll show you how to blend colours and create gradients like a pro.
Adding the 'cool' bits: Our artists teach you how to add highlights, shadows, and those final details that bring the art to life.
The big reveal: Step back and admire the collective masterpiece created by the university group.

Local culture

Tacuarembo is known for its deep gaucho roots and the legendary "Patria Gaucha" festival, but there is a growing appetite for modern urban expression in this northern hub. Bringing a graffiti workshop here isn't just about paint—it's about blending the traditional soul of the city with the vibrant energy of the next generation. We love the contrast of street art against the backdrop of Tacuarembo’s classic architecture. 🎨

Fun Fact: Tacuarembo famously claims to be the birthplace of the tango legend Carlos Gardel. Just as Gardel revolutionised music, our workshops encourage students to revolutionise their own creative boundaries right here in the city centre!
