Do we need any previous art experience to join?

Absolutely! Our sessions are beginner-friendly. Our pro artists guide your university group from basic spray can control to detailed layering techniques. You don't need a single ounce of artistic talent to start; by the end of the session, you'll be amazed at the masterpiece you've helped create. It's all about the experience and expressing your unique voice on the wall.

Is the workshop safe for students?

Safety is a massive priority for us. We provide FFP3 respirators, high-quality gloves, and protective overalls to keep your clothes clean. Our artists give a full safety briefing before anyone touches a can. We also use high-end spray paint with lower odour profiles where possible to ensure the environment remains comfortable for all students and staff involved in the Tavua workshop.

Where in Tavua does the workshop take place?

We are totally flexible! We can bring mobile graffiti walls to your campus in Tavua, or we can find a cool local spot nearby. If you have a specific wall on campus that the university has cleared for a mural, we can even help the students create a permanent piece of legacy art that will inspire future cohorts for years to come.

Are your workshops environmentally friendly?

Sustainability matters to us. We use recyclable spray cans and ensure that all waste is disposed of responsibly after the session. We also encourage students to think about the environmental impact of street art and discuss eco-friendly alternatives. While spray paint is an aerosol, we choose brands that are lead-free and comply with high environmental standards.

How long does a typical session last?

Standard university workshops usually run between 1.5 to 3 hours. This gives us enough time for a solid introduction, sketching, practice, and the final mural creation. However, if you're planning a massive campus festival or a whole 'Freshers Week' event, we can adapt the schedule to run multiple shorter sessions or a full-day collaborative project. Just let us know what fits your timetable!

What happens if an artist is unavailable?

We've got you covered! One of the reasons Graffitifun is so reliable is that we have a large network of professional artists. If your scheduled lead artist falls ill, we have backup artists ready to step in so your event isn't cancelled. We know how much planning goes into university events, so we make sure our reliability is 100%.

The experience

Why choose a graffiti workshop for your next university event in Tavua? Aside from the fact that it's insanely fun, it’s one of the most effective ways to boost student engagement and mental well-being. Here’s why it works:

Total Inclusivity: Street art is a "low floor, high ceiling" activity—anyone can do it, regardless of their background or artistic skill. 🤝
Stress Relief: There is something incredibly therapeutic about the hiss of a spray can and the flow of freestyle painting. It's the perfect antidote to exam season. 🎤
Legacy Building: Create a piece of art that stays on campus as a permanent reminder of your year group's creativity. 🏆
Social Media Gold: Let’s be real—a graffiti mural is the ultimate backdrop for your university’s Instagram and TikTok channels. 🔥
Pro Artists: You’re learning from the best. Our artists don't just teach; they inspire and provide a safe, professional experience. 🎨

Looking for other vibes? We also do workshops for schools, festivals, bachelor parties, brand activations, company events, and kids parties. We even offer 3D street art for those looking for something truly mind-bending!

Step by step

Intro & inspiration: Our pro artist kicks things off with a brief history of street art and explains the different styles you'll see around the world.
The safety lowdown: We suit everyone up in protective gear and explain how to use the equipment safely and effectively.
First lines: You'll start by practicing 'can control' on a practice wall—learning how to make thin lines, fat drips, and smooth gradients.
Concept sketching: The group works together to sketch out a theme or a 'tag' that represents your university society or campus vibe.
Fill-ins: Time to add the colour! Students collaborate to fill in the large areas of the mural using professional-grade spray paints.
The outline: This is where the magic happens. We'll show you how to add sharp outlines to make your letters and characters pop.
Highlights & details: Add those final touches like 'shines', '3D shadows', and 'force fields' to give the art a professional finish.
Group photo: We wrap up with a massive group photo in front of your finished masterpiece—perfect for the university's social media!

Local culture

Tavua is a town known for its hardworking spirit and its deep roots in the gold mining industry. But beyond the industrial heritage, there is a growing appetite for modern creative expression. Bringing a graffiti workshop to Tavua is about more than just paint; it’s about connecting the local student community with a global art movement. While you might see traditional patterns in local crafts, street art offers a fresh, urban way for the youth of Tavua to share their modern Fijian identity. ✨

Fun Fact: Did you know Tavua sits right in the heart of the "Gold Town"? Just like the precious metal mined nearby, street art is all about finding the hidden value in unexpected places—like an old wall or a quiet corner of campus!
