Do the kids need any previous art experience to participate?

Absolutely! Our youth projects in Lautoka are designed specifically for beginners. Our professional street artists start with the basics, teaching safe spray can handling, nozzle control, and simple 'tagging' techniques. We provide a supportive environment where making mistakes is just part of the creative process. No prior art experience is needed—just a positive attitude and a willingness to try something new. All participants will leave feeling like true street artists!

Is the graffiti workshop safe for teenagers?

Safety is our top priority at Graffitifun. We provide high-quality protective gear, including masks, gloves, and overalls to keep the youth safe and clean. We use professional-grade spray paints and ensure all workshops take place in well-ventilated outdoor areas. Our instructors are experienced in managing groups and provide constant supervision to ensure the equipment is used correctly and everyone has a fun, injury-free experience in Lautoka.

How long does a typical youth workshop session last?

A standard youth project session in Lautoka typically lasts between 2 and 3 hours. This gives us enough time for a safety briefing, a demonstration of techniques, individual practice, and the completion of a final masterpiece. We find this duration is the 'sweet spot' for keeping energy levels high and engagement focused without the participants getting tired. We can also adapt the timing for full-day community events.

Where in Lautoka do these graffiti projects take place?

The great thing about our workshops is that we are mobile! We can host the event at your youth centre, school grounds, or a local community park in Lautoka, provided we have permission and a suitable wall or temporary boards. If you don't have a location, let us know—we can often help find a creative space or bring our own mobile graffiti walls to your site.

Is there an upfront payment required for the booking?

We believe in total transparency and peace of mind. You don't have to pay anything upfront when booking your Lautoka youth project. We provide a clear quote, and payment is only handled after the workshop is completed. This ensures you are 100% satisfied with the experience we've delivered. We take the stress out of the admin so you can focus on the creativity!

What materials are included in the workshop package?

We provide everything! Your booking includes professional spray paint in a huge variety of vibrant colours, various nozzles (caps) for different effects, protective clothing, and the surfaces to paint on (if needed). We also bring our expert street artists to lead the session. Participants just need to wear comfortable clothes they don't mind getting a bit of dust on and bring their creative energy!

What happens if it rains on the day of the street art project?

While we hope for sunny Fiji skies, we always have a plan B. If the weather in Lautoka isn't playing ball, we can often move the workshop to a covered outdoor area or reschedule for a better day. Because we have a large team of backup artists, we are very flexible with timing. We'll work closely with you to ensure the project happens regardless of the tropical weather.

The experience

Why choose a graffiti workshop for your next youth initiative in Lautoka? It’s more than just art; it’s an experience that breaks down barriers and encourages self-discovery. Here is why our projects are a hit:

Boosts self-esteem: Seeing a massive piece of art you helped create provides an incredible sense of achievement. 💪
Promotes teamwork: Large murals require communication and collaboration, teaching kids how to work together toward a shared goal.
Legal & safe expression: We teach the difference between vandalism and street art, providing a legal outlet for urban creativity. 🎤
Accessible to all: You don't need to be "good at drawing" to create something amazing with a spray can; it’s the ultimate leveller.
Professional mentorship: Our artists aren't just teachers; they are mentors who share their passion and professional journey. 🏆
100% Fun guaranteed: We focus on the joy of creation, ensuring every participant leaves with a massive smile. ✨

Step by step

The warm-up: We start with a high-energy intro, talking about the history of street art and how it turned from "vandalism" into a respected global art form.
Safety first: Every participant gets kitted out in protective gear. We explain how to use the cans responsibly and the importance of the masks.
First lines: Under the guidance of our pros, the youth learn how to hold the can, control the pressure, and create clean lines on their practice boards.
Sketching the vision: We move on to sketching out a collective design or individual pieces, encouraging participants to express their own unique styles.
Filling and fading: This is where the magic happens! We teach techniques like "filling" for solid colours and "fading" to create cool gradients and shadows.
The final outline: The artists show the group how to add "the pop"—that final sharp outline that makes a graffiti piece truly stand out.
Group masterpiece: Finally, everyone collaborates on a large-scale mural or individual canvases that celebrate the spirit of Lautoka and its youth.

Local culture

Lautoka, famously known as the Sugar City, has a unique rhythm and a rich community spirit that we love to tap into. While the city is known for its industrial heritage and breezy waterfront, there is a growing appetite for modern, urban art forms among the local youth. From the bustling streets near the Lautoka Market to the quieter community spaces, there’s a massive potential to brighten up the city with local stories told through graffiti. 🌴

Fun Fact: Did you know that Lautoka is the second largest city in Fiji? We think that means there's double the creative potential waiting to be unleashed! Our workshops aim to celebrate this local pride, perhaps even incorporating motifs of the surrounding sugar cane fields or the iconic blue of the Pacific Ocean into our street art designs. Let's make the Sugar City even sweeter with some world-class street art! 🎨
