What is the ideal age range for a graffiti youth project?

Our youth projects are designed for virtually any age, though we typically recommend a minimum age of 8 to ensure they have the physical strength to press the spray nozzles. For younger groups, we focus more on character design and colour theory, while teenagers can get stuck into complex lettering and technical layering. We adapt our teaching style to match the maturity and energy of the group perfectly.

Is it safe for children and teenagers to use spray paint?

Safety is our absolute priority. We provide high-quality masks, gloves, and protective suits for every participant. Our aerosol paints are choice-selected for low-odour and safety. A professional artist supervises every single spray to ensure the equipment is used correctly. We also conduct a comprehensive safety briefing at the start of every session so everyone knows the ground rules before they touch a can.

Do participants need to have prior artistic skills?

Not at all! We love working with beginners. Our workshops are structured to guide youth from zero experience to a finished masterpiece. We start with basic lines and shapes before moving on to 'filling' and 'outlining'. Most kids are shocked at how much they can achieve in just a couple of hours with the right professional guidance. It's all about building confidence through creativity.

Where do the workshops take place in Melo?

We are incredibly flexible. We can work on large-scale boards, transportable canvases, or even a permanent wall if you have one available. If your location in Melo doesn't have a suitable space, we can often arrange a local spot or use our mobile 'cellograff' walls (industrial cling film stretched between poles). We bring the studio to you, wherever you are in the city!

How long does a typical session last?

The standard youth project lasts between 1.5 to 3 hours. This gives us enough time for the intro, safety briefing, sketching, and the final painting phase. For larger community projects or festivals, we can extend this into a full-day event or even a multi-day mural project. We’ll work with your schedule to ensure the timing feels energetic rather than rushed.

What should the kids wear for the workshop?

Wear old clothes and shoes that you don't mind getting a bit of 'art' on! While we provide protective overalls and gloves, spray paint is permanent and has a way of finding its way onto sleeves or trainers. Think of it as a creative battle suit. We provide everything else: the permits, the paint, the masks, and the professional inspiration. Just bring your energy!

The experience

Why choose a graffiti workshop for your youth project in Melo? It’s more than just paint on a wall—it’s an experience that stays with the participants forever. Here is why it works so well:

Inclusive creativity: Unlike traditional drawing, graffiti is a leveller. It’s "cool," approachable, and kids who usually struggle with art often excel here! 🎤
Team building: Large murals require communication and cooperation, teaching youth how to work together towards a massive visual goal.
Instant satisfaction: There is nothing like the vibrant "pop" of spray paint to give kids an immediate sense of accomplishment. 💪
Professional mentors: Our artists aren't just teachers; they are active street performers who inspire through their own craft and passion.
Risk-free planning: With our "pay after" policy and backup artist guarantee, your Melo event is in safe hands. 🏆
Local impact: Brighten up a grey corner of your neighbourhood and give the youth a sense of ownership over their environment.

Step by step

Initial consultation: We chat about your goals for the Melo youth group, whether it's a team-building day or a community mural.
Design phase: Our artists prepare themes or templates based on your ideas, ensuring the project resonates with the local youth culture.
Safety briefing: Every session starts with a fun but thorough lesson on how to use spray cans safely and respect the environment.
Technique demo: A professional artist shows the kids the secrets of 'fading', 'outlining', and 'shading' to get those "wow" effects.
Sketching ideas: Participants grab markers and paper to plan their tags or characters before moving to the 'big' wall.
First lines: The paint starts flowing! We guide the group through the initial marks, ensuring everyone feels confident.
Filling and details: The project comes to life as colours are added and details are sharpened under our expert supervision.
Final reveal: We step back to admire the collective masterpiece and snap some group photos for the memories!
Clean up: We handle all the site restoration, leaving only the beautiful art behind for the community to enjoy.
