Do we need any previous art experience to participate?

Absolutely! Most of our participants in Shumen have never touched a spray can before. We start with the basics of safety and nozzle control before moving on to letters and shadows. Our professional artists will be right there to guide the youth through every stroke, ensuring everyone creates something they are genuinely proud of by the end of the session.

What safety measures do you have in place for youth projects?

Safety is our number one priority. We provide high-quality respiratory masks, protective gloves, and full-body overalls to keep clothes clean. Our spray paints are selected for their safety standards, and our artists are trained to manage groups in a way that keeps the environment controlled, respectful, and safe for all participants during the youth project.

Where in Shumen do the workshops actually take place?

We are flexible! We can host the workshop at a legal graffiti wall in Shumen, or we can come to your youth centre, sports club, or school. If we work at your location, we use large canvases or temporary wooden panels to ensure the property remains clean while the 'street art' vibe is preserved.

How long does a standard workshop session last?

A typical youth graffiti project lasts between 2 and 3 hours. This gives us enough time for a proper introduction, a sketching phase, some practice runs, and the final execution of the masterpiece. We find this is the 'sweet spot' for keeping energy levels high and focus sharp without the participants getting tired.

What are the costs involved for a youth group?

Our youth project pricing in Shumen typically ranges from 40 лв to 90 лв per person. The final cost depends on the number of participants, the amount of materials needed, and the specific location. We don't require upfront payments—you simply pay after the workshop is complete and everyone is happy with the results!

What should the participants bring with them on the day?

We recommend wearing comfortable clothes and old shoes just in case, even though we provide protective gear. It's always a good idea to bring some water and plenty of enthusiasm! If we are working outdoors, please check the weather forecast and dress accordingly (sunscreen or a warm hoodie). We bring everything else, from paint to inspiration.

The experience

Why choose a graffiti workshop for your next youth initiative in Shumen? It’s more than just painting; it’s about building confidence and community. Here’s why it works:

Instant Engagement: Graffiti has a 'cool factor' that instantly hooks teenagers who might be bored by traditional art. 🔥
Team Building: Working on a large-scale mural requires communication, compromise, and collective effort. 🤝
Digital Detox: It’s a hands-on, tactile experience that gets kids away from screens and into a flow state. 📵
Professional Mentorship: Our artists aren't just teachers; they are active creators who inspire the next generation. 🎤
Safe Expression: We provide a legal, structured outlet for rebellion and creativity, teaching respect for public spaces. 🛡️

Step by step

The warm-up: We start with a high-energy intro about the history of street art and the 'rules of the road' for graffiti writers.
Design & Sketching: Participants grab markers and paper to brainstorm their 'tags' or a collective mural theme for the Shumen project.
Safety first: Everyone gets fitted with their masks, gloves, and protective suits to ensure a clean and safe environment.
Can control: We teach the technical side—how to hold the can, swap nozzles (caps), and control the pressure for different line widths.
Outline & Fill: This is where the magic happens! The group starts applying their designs to the wall or canvases with artist guidance.
Finessing: We teach 'cutting' techniques and highlights to make the artwork pop and look professionally finished.
Group photo: We celebrate the final masterpiece with a professional group photo in front of the new artwork—perfect for social media or Shumen news.

Local culture

Shumen is a city where history meets the future, dominated by the massive Founders of the Bulgarian State Monument. While the city celebrates its ancient roots, there is a growing appetite for modern, urban culture. Street art in Shumen acts as a bridge, giving the younger generation a voice in a city with such a grand historical backdrop. From the quiet streets near the Shumen Fortress to the bustling city centre, there are plenty of spots where creativity can flourish. ✨

Fun Fact: Did you know that the Founders of the Bulgarian State Monument in Shumen is often cited as the largest mosaic ensemble in the Balkans? Our workshops aim for that same level of scale and impact—just with spray cans and a bit more 'freestyle' energy! 🎨
