Is the graffiti workshop safe for primary school children?

Absolutely! We prioritize safety above all else. We provide high-quality respiratory masks, gloves, and protective suits for every student. Our spray paints are selected for low-odour and low-toxicity properties where possible. All sessions are led by experienced professionals who provide a comprehensive safety briefing before anyone touches a can. We ensure the environment is well-ventilated and that children are supervised at every single moment of the creative process.

How long does a typical school session last?

Most of our primary school workshops in Sarpsborg last between 1.5 to 3 hours. This timeframe is the 'sweet spot' for keeping younger children engaged without them getting overly tired. We start with a brief history of street art, move into technique practice, and spend the final hour or more on the main masterpiece. We can always adjust the timing to fit into your specific school timetable.

Do we need to provide any materials?

There is no need for your school to provide anything other than the space! Graffitifun brings everything required: premium spray cans in every colour of the rainbow, protective gear, masks, and the 'canvases' (which can be plastic-wrapped walls or wooden boards). We even handle the setup and the cleanup, leaving your school grounds exactly as we found them—just with a lot more happy faces and new skills learned!

Do the kids need any prior drawing or art skills?

Not at all! Our workshops are designed for complete beginners. Our expert artists break down the process into easy, manageable steps that even a 7-year-old can follow. We focus on building confidence and showing students that 'mistakes' in graffiti often lead to the coolest effects. Your students will be amazed at what they can achieve with just a few simple tips on nozzle control and layering.

What happens if it rains on the day of the workshop?

In the event of classic Østlandet rain, we have several options. If you have a large indoor area like a sports hall or a well-ventilated shed, we can move the workshop there using low-odour paints and floor protection. Alternatively, we use professional-grade pop-up tents to keep the kids and the artwork dry. We monitor the weather closely and always coordinate with you 24 hours before to ensure the day goes smoothly.

Can this workshop be linked to the school curriculum?

Graffiti is a fantastic tool for curriculum-based learning. It touches on subjects like visual arts, local history (the Viking heritage of Sarpsborg), and social studies (community and public space). It’s also a powerful way to discuss the difference between illegal vandalism and commissioned street art. Many teachers find that it encourages students who usually struggle with traditional academic subjects to shine in a hands-on, creative environment.

What is the maximum group size for a school event?

We are very flexible! We can work with a single class of 20-30 students or rotate through multiple groups over a full school day to accommodate the entire year group. For larger groups, we simply bring more artists to ensure every child gets the personal attention and guidance they need. Just let us know your total student count, and we will create a custom schedule that works for everyone.

The experience

Why choose a graffiti workshop for your Sarpsborg primary school? It’s more than just painting on walls—it’s a powerful educational tool that builds skills for life! ✨

Confidence Booster: Kids who might not feel "good at drawing" often flourish with a spray can; it’s a great equaliser! 🚀
Total Inclusivity: Street art is for everyone, regardless of language barriers or academic ability.
Safety First: We use professional-grade protective gear and low-odour paints, ensuring a worry-free experience for teachers and parents. 🛡️
Teamwork in Action: Our collaborative murals require students to communicate, plan, and work together towards a massive goal. 🤝
Professional Mentorship: Our artists aren't just talented; they are great role models who love sharing their passion and secrets of the trade.
Zero Stress for Teachers: We handle the setup, the teaching, and the cleanup. You just get to sit back and watch the magic happen! ☕

Step by step

Intro & inspiration: We start with a high-energy intro to the world of street art, showing the kids how graffiti evolved from simple tags into massive murals.
Safety first: Every student gets geared up in a protective suit, gloves, and a mask while we explain the golden rules of using spray cans safely.
The tag creator: Students start by sketching their ideas on paper or using our digital tag creator tool to visualise their unique street name.
First lines: Under the guidance of our pros, kids learn 'can control'—how to hold the spray can, how to trigger it, and how to stay at the right distance.
Filling & fading: We move on to more advanced techniques like 'filling in' areas smoothly and creating cool gradients and fades between colours.
The big masterpiece: Now it’s time for the main event! The class works together on a large-scale project or individual boards to create a vibrant work of art.
The finishing touch: We teach how to 'outline' and add highlights or 'shines' that make the artwork pop and look truly professional.
Photos & cleanup: Once the paint is dry, we take group photos with the art. We then pack up every single can and scrap of plastic, leaving the school clean.

Local culture

Sarpsborg is a city built on history, from its Viking roots at Sarpsfossen to its industrial heritage. But today, the city is embracing a new, modern energy. By bringing a graffiti workshop to your Sarpsborg school, you're connecting your students with a global art movement that is increasingly visible across Norway, from the bustling streets of Oslo to the local walls right here in Østfold. We love bringing our cans to the home of the Sparta Warriors and the blue-and-white spirit of the city!

Fun Fact: Did you know Sarpsborg was founded by Saint Olaf in 1016? That’s over a thousand years of history! We think it's the perfect backdrop for students to create "modern-day cave paintings" that reflect their own spot in the city's long timeline. 🏰

Pricing

Our workshop pricing is designed to be transparent and flexible to fit your school's budget. We don't believe in hidden fees!
