How long does a secondary school graffiti workshop usually last?

Our standard graffiti workshops for secondary schools in Drogheda usually last between 2 and 3 hours. This timeframe provides the perfect balance, allowing students enough time to learn the fundamental techniques, practice their can control, and complete a final masterpiece without losing focus. We can also adapt the schedule to fit within a specific double-period or a full transition year activity day if your school timetable requires a more bespoke arrangement.

Do the students need any prior art experience or talent?

Not at all! Our workshops are designed for absolute beginners. Our professional street artists guide the students through every single step, from holding the spray can correctly to layering colours and adding highlights. You’ll be amazed at how quickly students who claim they 'can't draw' produce incredible, high-quality urban art by the end of the session. It’s all about building confidence and having a go!

Is the spray paint safe for teenagers to use?

Absolutely. Safety is our number one priority. We provide high-quality respiratory masks, disposable gloves, and protective ponchos for every student. Our spray paints are selected for being low-odour and we always conduct workshops in well-ventilated outdoor areas or large, open indoor spaces. Our artists are fully trained in site safety and will supervise the group closely to ensure everyone uses the equipment correctly and responsibly.

Where in Drogheda do these workshops take place?

We are incredibly flexible! We can bring the workshop directly to your school grounds in Drogheda using our mobile graffiti walls, or we can arrange a session at a local urban spot if preferred. If you have a specific wall on campus that you've been granted permission to paint permanently, we can certainly help the students transform it into a professional-looking mural that the whole school can enjoy.

What materials does the school need to provide?

We provide everything! Your booking includes all premium spray paint cans in a huge variety of colours, protective gear (masks, gloves, suits), and the 'canvas' (whether that’s boards, a wall, or individual takeaway pieces). We even bring the inspiration! The only thing the school needs to provide is a group of enthusiastic students ready to get their hands a bit colourful. We take care of all the setup and the cleanup.

What are the educational benefits of a spray paint workshop?

Graffiti art is an incredible tool for second-level students. It encourages creative problem-solving, improves fine motor skills, and provides a unique outlet for self-expression that traditional art classes might miss. It’s also a fantastic team-building exercise, especially for Transition Year groups, as it requires collaboration, planning, and communication. Plus, it’s a brilliant way to engage students who might usually feel disconnected from the standard academic curriculum.

How do we book a workshop for our school?

Booking is easy and stress-free! You can use our online cost calculator to get an instant estimate, or simply send us an inquiry with your group size and preferred dates. We don't require any payment upfront—you only pay after the workshop is successfully completed. We also have backup artists available on our team, so you never have to worry about a last-minute cancellation ruining your school's planned activity day.

The experience

Why choose a Graffitifun workshop for your school in Drogheda? We’re not just painters—we’re educators who live and breathe street art. Here’s why we’re a hit with teachers and students alike:

Real Artist Mentors: Students learn directly from active street artists who share real-world techniques and stories. 🎨
Boosts Teen Confidence: There's no "wrong" way to do graffiti. It’s an amazing way to engage students who find traditional art intimidating.
Zero Stress for Teachers: We handle everything—from the risk assessments to the final cleanup. You just enjoy the show!
Curriculum Links: Our sessions can be tailored to cover topics like typography, colour theory, local history, or social issues. 📚
Safe & Professional: We use top-tier safety gear and professional-grade, low-odour paints suitable for school environments.
Unforgettable Memories: It’s not just an art lesson; it’s a high-energy event that builds school spirit and pride. 🔥

Step by step

Introduction & safety briefing: We kick things off with a high-energy intro to the world of street art, followed by a vital safety talk on how to use the gear and spray cans properly. 🛡️
Sketching the concept: Students grab paper and pencils to brainstorm their tags or group designs, learning how to structure 'wildstyle' or 'block' lettering.
The first spray: Under the guidance of our pros, students head to the wall to practice basic lines, dots, and pressure control to get a feel for the can.
Filling and fading: We teach the secrets of 'filling in' shapes smoothly and creating those iconic graffiti gradients and colour blends. 🎨
Outlining & cutting: This is where the art pops! Students learn how to use high-contrast colours to outline their work and 'cut' back in for crisp, sharp edges.
Adding the 'flash': The final touches involve adding highlights, 3D shadows, and 'force fields' (outer glows) to make the artwork look three-dimensional.
Group mural completion: The individual elements are brought together into one cohesive, vibrant masterpiece that represents the group's collective creativity.
Photo op & wrap-up: We finish with a professional photoshoot of the students with their work—perfect for the school social media or yearbook! 📸

Good to know

Group Sizes: We can cater to small groups of 10 or entire year groups of 100+ students (with multiple artists).

Local culture

Drogheda is a town steeped in history, from the walls of Oldbridge to the bustling Quayside, but it’s also a place with a growing appreciation for modern urban culture. We love bringing our workshops to the Boyne Valley area, where the blend of ancient heritage and modern Irish youth culture creates a unique backdrop for creativity. By introducing professional street art to Drogheda's secondary schools, we’re helping the next generation add their own contemporary chapter to the town's long visual history. 🏰

Fun Fact: Did you know that Drogheda has played host to some incredible street art festivals in recent years? The town is becoming a mini-hub for murals in the Northeast, making it the perfect place for students to learn the difference between "vandalism" and "urban gallery art." 🏙️
