Step by step

  1. The introduction: Our professional artist meets the group and introduces the history of street art, moving from 'vandalism' to high-end gallery art.
  2. Design & brainstorming: Students work together to brainstorm themes, often focusing on school values or local Newcastle culture.
  3. Safety first: Everyone gets kitted out in protective suits, masks, and gloves while learning how to handle the cans correctly.
  4. First lines: We start with 'can control' exercises, teaching students how to create thin lines, thick fades, and sharp dots.
  5. Background layering: The students begin applying the base colours to the mural, learning how to blend and transition between shades.
  6. The main piece: Under the guidance of our pros, the students start filling in the main letters or characters of the design.
  7. Sharpening the outlines: This is where the magic happens! We show them how to use high-contrast colours to make their artwork pop.
  8. Adding details: Final highlights, shines, and 'bubbles' are added to give the piece a professional, 3D finish.
  9. The reveal: The group steps back to admire their massive collaborative mural—perfect for a school photo op!

Local culture

Street art in Newcastle

Newcastle has a grit and a creative soul that makes it the perfect backdrop for street art. From the legendary murals in Ouseburn to the hidden gems around Gallowgate, the 'Toon' knows how to express itself. We bring that same Geordie spirit to your school, encouraging students to draw inspiration from their local surroundings—be it the architecture of the Quayside or the passion of St James' Park. 🏮

Fun Fact: Did you know Newcastle is home to several 'legal walls' where the local council encourages street art? It’s a city that recognises that today's tag could be tomorrow's masterpiece!

Pricing

Our workshop prices are as flexible as our art. Depending on the number of students, the location in Newcastle, and the duration of the project, prices typically range from £25 to £55 per person. We believe in high-quality art being accessible to everyone.

Best of all? No upfront payment is required. You only pay once the workshop is finished and the students are buzzing with excitement! ✨
