How it works

Intro & Street Art History: We start with a high-energy intro about the roots of graffiti culture and how it evolved into the modern street art seen in Turku.
Safety First: Students suit up in protective gear and learn how to use the spray cans and masks safely and effectively.
Mastering the Can: Our pros teach the 'can control' basics—learning how to make thin lines, fat caps, and smooth gradients.
Sketching the Vision: Every student gets to brainstorm and sketch their design on paper before moving to the wall or canvas.
First Strokes: Time to hit the surface! Students start applying their base colours under the watchful eye of our artists.
Outlining & Detail: This is where the art pops! We teach how to add sharp outlines and those crucial 'bits' that make graffiti unique.
The Masterpiece Reveal: The group steps back to admire their collective work. It’s always a proud moment for the students!
Feedback & Photos: We wrap up with a group photo and some positive vibes from our artists on the amazing work produced.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a typical workshop for secondary school students last?

Most secondary school workshops in Turku last between 2 and 3 hours. This provides enough time for a solid introduction, safety briefing, technique practice, and the final creation of their own graffiti piece. We can adjust the duration to fit into your school timetable or specific project days, ensuring students get the most out of their creative experience without feeling rushed.

Is it safe for students to use spray paint?

Absolutely! Safety is our number one priority at Graffitifun. We provide high-quality respiratory masks, protective gloves, and overalls to all students. Our professional artists are trained to supervise groups and ensure that the spray paint is used correctly and in a well-ventilated outdoor environment. We follow strict safety protocols so students can focus entirely on being creative and having fun.

Do students need to have prior drawing or art skills?

No prior artistic experience is needed at all! Our workshops are designed for all skill levels, from those who have never held a spray can to students with a natural flair for drawing. Our artists guide the group through every step, starting with basic lines and shapes. We guarantee that every student will leave the session feeling proud of what they have created.

What are the costs involved for a school workshop in Turku?

The price usually ranges between €30 and €65 per student. The final cost depends on the size of the group, the location in Turku, and the specific materials required for your project. We strive to keep our workshops accessible for schools and offer competitive rates. You can use our online cost calculator or contact us for a personalised, no-obligation quote.

Where in Turku do the workshops take place?

We are very flexible! We can organise the workshop at a suitable location near your school, at a designated legal graffiti wall in Turku (like the ones near the Kupittaa area), or we can even bring mobile canvases to your school grounds. As long as we have a safe, outdoor space, we can make the magic happen almost anywhere in the city.

What happens if we need to cancel or change the date?

We believe in a 'fun first' approach! However, we do not require upfront payments. You only pay after the workshop has been successfully completed and everyone is satisfied. This ensures peace of mind for school administrators and teachers. We also have backup artists available to ensure that your scheduled event always goes ahead as planned, regardless of unforeseen circumstances.

Can the workshop be linked to our current school curriculum?

Definitely! Graffiti is a fantastic way to explore themes like identity, urban culture, or social issues. Many schools in Turku integrate our workshops into their Art, History, or Social Studies curriculum. We can tailor the introductory talk and the final project theme to align with specific educational goals or school values, making it a truly integrated learning experience.
