How does a workshop help prevent vandalism in Winterthur?

Our anti-vandalism program teaches the difference between illegal tagging and street art as a craft. By providing a legal outlet and professional guidance, participants develop a sense of ownership over their environment. We've found that when people understand the time and skill required to create a mural, they are much more likely to respect public spaces and discourage others from defacing them. It transforms energy into positive community contributions.

What materials are included in the session?

Everything you need is included! We provide high-quality spray cans in a huge variety of colours, protective overalls, gloves, and respiratory masks for safety. We also bring the canvases or mobile wall sections where the art will be created. You just need to show up in old clothes and shoes that you don't mind getting a little paint on—spray paint is permanent, after all!

Is the spray painting process safe for everyone?

Absolutely. Safety is our top priority at Graffitifun. We use low-odour, professional-grade spray paints and provide all necessary protective gear, including high-quality masks and gloves. Our artists are experienced instructors who supervise the group closely at all times. We ensure the workshop takes place in a well-ventilated area, making it a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone involved.

Do we need any previous art experience to join?

No previous artistic experience or 'talent' is required! Our Winterthur workshops are designed for absolute beginners. Our professional graffiti artists break down the process into simple, manageable steps—from holding the can to creating 3D effects. We find that even those who claim they 'can't draw a stick figure' end up creating incredible pieces of art by the end of the session.

How long does a typical workshop session last?

A standard workshop usually lasts between 1.5 to 3 hours. This gives us enough time for a brief introduction to graffiti culture and safety, a practice session to get used to the spray cans, and finally, the creation of the main artwork. We can adjust the duration slightly based on your specific schedule and the goals of your anti-vandalism project.

Where in Winterthur do the workshops take place?

We are very flexible! We can host workshops at various legal street art locations around Winterthur, or we can bring the entire setup to you. If you have a school yard, a community centre, or a private wall, we can set up mobile foil walls or canvases. We handle all the prep and cleanup, ensuring the site is left exactly as we found it (plus some new art!).

What are the costs for a group workshop?

Our pricing is transparent and flexible, generally ranging from CHF 40 to CHF 85 per person. The final cost depends on the number of participants, the duration of the workshop, and the specific materials or travel required. We don't require any upfront payment—you only pay after the event is successfully completed. For a precise estimate, just use our online cost calculator!

The experience

Why choose an anti-vandalism workshop in Winterthur? Because street art should build community, not break it down. Here is what makes our program stand out:

Pro-Artists, Not Amateurs: Learn from real street artists who live the culture and love to teach. 🎤
Hands-on Education: We skip the boring lectures and get straight to the spraying, teaching respect through action.
Zero Risk: No payment upfront and guaranteed artist availability means your event is in safe hands. 🏆
Community Pride: Participants feel a sense of ownership over their work, making them less likely to vandalise other areas.
Creative Tools: Use our exclusive Tag Creator and Cost Calculator to plan your perfect session online. 🔥

Step by step

Introduction & Culture: We start with a high-energy talk about the history of graffiti and the vital difference between vandalism and street art.
Safety Briefing: Everyone gets kitted out in protective gear and learns how to handle the spray cans responsibly.
The Tag Creator: Use our digital tool to brainstorm your alias or message before touching the paint.
Basic Techniques: Our pros demonstrate lines, dots, and fills so you get a feel for the pressure of the nozzle.
Sketching the Mural: We work together to outline a large-scale design that reflects community and respect.
Filling & Colouring: This is the fun part! Participants work in teams to bring the sketch to life with vibrant colours.
Adding the Details: Learn how to add highlights, shadows, and 'second outlines' to make your art pop.
Final Reflection: We discuss the sense of pride in the finished work and how it improves the local vibe of Winterthur.
Clean Up: We pack up everything, leaving nothing behind but great memories and amazing art.

Local culture

Winterthur has always been Swiss's "City of Museums," but its street scene is just as vibrant as its high-art galleries. From the industrial charm of the Sulzer Areal to the creative pockets near the ZHAW, Winterthur breathes a unique blend of heritage and modern urban culture. Our anti-vandalism workshops tap into this local spirit, encouraging participants to contribute to the city's aesthetic rather than detracting from it. We believe that by understanding Winterthur's urban layout, we can better protect its beauty.

Fun Fact: Did you know Winterthur used to be a major industrial powerhouse? Many of those old factory walls are now the perfect backdrop for legal street art projects that keep the city looking edgy yet clean! 🏭✨

Pricing

Our workshop prices are as vibrant and varied as our paint! Generally, you can expect a range of CHF 40 to CHF 85 per person. This depends on your group size, the length of the session, and the location within Winterthur.

The best part? No upfront payment is required! You only pay after you've had your incredible experience. We also have backup artists ready to go, so your event is never at risk of cancellation. 🚀
