Do we need to bring our own protective gear or paint?

We've got you covered! Safety is our priority, so we provide high-quality breathing masks, disposable gloves, and protective suits for every student. We also use low-odour professional spray paint designed for better control. While we provide the gear, we always recommend wearing old trainers and clothes you don't mind getting a tiny bit of 'artistic splatter' on just in case!

Can you host the workshop on our university campus?

Absolutely! While it's great if your university has a designated 'free wall,' we are experts at setting up mobile workshops. We use professional-grade cellophane 'walls' stretched between posts or trees, or even large movable wooden boards. This allows us to bring the graffiti experience to your campus courtyard, sports hall, or parking area without leaving any permanent marks on university property.

We aren't art students—is this workshop still suitable for us?

No experience? No problem! Most students have never touched a spray can before they meet us. Our professional artists break down the process into easy-to-follow steps, from basic 'can control' to advanced shading techniques. By the end of the session, even the most 'un-artistic' student in the group will have created a piece they are genuinely proud of. Fun is the main goal!

How long does a typical university graffiti session last?

Typically, our university workshops last between 1.5 and 2.5 hours. This is the 'sweet spot' that allows for a full introduction, practice time, and the creation of a collective masterpiece or individual canvases. If you have a specific schedule—like a gap between lectures or a full day-long student festival—we can easily adapt the timing to suit your event's rhythm.

Is this a good activity for student team building or societies?

Graffiti is perfect for building team spirit. We often organise groups to work together on one massive 'class mural' where everyone contributes a letter or a character. It forces groups to communicate about colour palettes, layout, and style. It’s a fantastic icebreaker for freshmen or a great way for graduating classes to leave a symbolic (but temporary) mark together.

What are the payment terms for university bookings?

We believe in stress-free planning for student unions and societies. You don't need to pay anything upfront to secure your booking. You simply pay after the workshop is completed and you're 100% satisfied with the experience. This makes the administration side much easier for university treasurers and event planners who need to verify services before releasing funds.

What happens if it rains on the day of our Winterthur event?

Winterthur is known for its grey skies occasionally, but the art doesn't stop! If the weather turns, we can move the workshop under cover or indoors using our low-odour paints and drop cloths. If we are forced to cancel due to extreme conditions, we have backup artists and flexible rescheduling options to ensure your student event still gets its creative fix as soon as possible.

The experience

Why choose a graffiti workshop for your next university outing in Winterthur? It’s more than just painting walls—it’s about stepping outside your comfort zone and building something together. Here is why it works:

Stress relief: Nothing beats the satisfying "hiss" of a spray can to decompress after exam season. 🎤
Total inclusivity: You don't need to be an artist to join in. Graffiti is about attitude and expression, not just technical drawing skills. 🎨
Instant results: Unlike a long-term project, you’ll see your massive mural come to life in just a couple of hours. 🔥
Mobile & flexible: We can set up at your campus, near the ZHAW, or at a local park—wherever the vibe is right. 📍
Social media gold: Let’s be real—your student society’s Instagram feed will never look better than with a backdrop of fresh street art. 📸
Expert guidance: Our artists are the real deal, active in the Swiss graffiti scene and ready to share their secrets. 🏆

Step by step

The warm-up: Meet your pro graffiti artist at your chosen Winterthur location for a quick intro into the history and culture of street art.
Master the tools: Learn the 'anatomy' of a spray can, including how different caps (nozzles) change the thickness and flow of your lines.
First lines: Start with basic techniques—practising straight lines, dots, and circles to build your 'can confidence' on practice surfaces.
Concept & sketching: Work with your group or individually to sketch out your design, focusing on letter structure and 'flow.'
The fill-in: Add vibrant colours to your piece. Learn how to layer paint and create smooth gradients or 'fades' like a pro.
The outline: Use a high-contrast colour (usually black or white) to make your letters 'pop' and define the edges of your work.
Shadows & 3D: Add depth to your creation with drop shadows and 3D effects that make the art look like it’s jumping off the wall.
Highlights & details: The 'finish': add those final sparkles, 'power-lines', and details that turn a good piece into a masterpiece.
The photo op: Pose with your crew in front of your finished mural for the ultimate Instagram-worthy memory of your time in Winterthur!

Local culture

Winterthur isn't just Zurich’s quieter neighbour; it’s a powerhouse of culture and education. Home to the ZHAW (Zürich University of Applied Sciences), the city pulses with student energy. From the industrial-cool vibes of the Sulzer Areal to the leafy parks, "Winti" has a unique aesthetic that blends technical precision with creative grit. Street art is deeply woven into the city's fabric—just look at the murals around the Kraftfeld or the evolving art scenes in the Töss district. ✨

Fun Fact: Winterthur is often called the "City of Museums," but we like to think of its streets as one giant, open-air gallery. Conducting a workshop here means tapping into a local tradition of innovation and bold expression that dates back to the city's industrial roots! 🏆

Pricing

We believe that high-quality art shouldn't come with a high-pressure price tag. Our university workshops are priced competitively to ensure student budgets can stretch to include a world-class experience.

Estimated Price: CHF40 - CHF85 per student

*Prices vary based on group size, duration, and whether we provide a mobile wall setup.

We don't do "one size fits all." Every student group has different needs, which is why we offer tailored solutions to fit your specific event goals and budget. Plus, remember our no upfront payment policy—you only pay once the spray paint has dried and you're happy! 🔥
