Do the teenagers need any prior art experience?

Absolutely! No prior painting experience is needed for our youth projects in Winterthur. Our professional artists are expert mentors who break down complex techniques into simple, manageable steps. We focus on building confidence and encouraging self-expression. By the end of the session, even those who have never held a spray can will have created something they can be truly proud of. It is all about the journey and the fun.

Is the graffiti workshop safe for young people?

Safety is our absolute number one priority. We provide high-quality respiratory masks, protective gloves, and overall suits to keep everyone safe and clean. Our spray paints are selected for their quality, and our instructors provide a comprehensive safety briefing before any cans are shaken. We always work in well-ventilated outdoor areas or specially designated street art zones in Winterthur to ensure a healthy environment for all participants.

How long does a typical workshop last?

A standard youth project session usually lasts between 2 and 3 hours. This timeframe allows enough room for a creative introduction, sketching designs on paper, learning can control, and finally executing the large-scale mural. If you have a specific schedule or a full-day youth programme in Winterthur to fill, we can easily adapt the duration to fit your needs perfectly!

Where in Winterthur do the workshops take place?

We are totally flexible! We can host the workshop at one of our vetted graffiti locations in Winterthur, or we can bring the "mobile street art studio" to you. If your youth centre or club has a suitable outdoor wall or space where we can set up large plastic-wrapped partitions or canvases, we are happy to travel to your specific location across the city.

What is the cost for a youth group workshop?

For youth projects, our prices typically range from CHF40 to CHF85 per participant. This includes all professional materials, safety gear, and expert artist guidance. The final cost depends on the number of attendees and the specific project requirements. Because every youth group is unique, we recommend requesting a custom quote so we can give you the most accurate pricing for your Winterthur event.

What materials are included in the workshop?

Graffitifun provides everything you need! This includes a wide array of premium spray paint colours, caps (nozzles), protective clothing, masks, gloves, and the painting surface (whether it is a wall or large canvases). Participants just need to wear comfortable clothes and shoes that they don't mind getting a little bit of 'artistic' dust on—even with our protective gear, it's better to be safe!

What is the ideal age for these youth projects?

We usually recommend a minimum age of 10 to 12 years for our youth projects to ensure they can handle the spray cans effectively and follow safety instructions. However, we are very experienced in tailoring our approach for different age brackets within the youth sector. If you have a slightly younger group in Winterthur, let us know, and we can adjust the tools and techniques we use.

Step by step

The warm-up: We start with a high-energy intro about street art culture and the basics of graffiti history.
Design session: Participants grab paper and markers to sketch out their ideas, tags, and "pieces" with artist guidance.
Safety first: Everyone gets geared up in protective suits, masks, and gloves while learning the essential safety rules.
Can control: We teach the 'secret' techniques—how to hold the can, how to control pressure, and how to swap caps for different effects.
The outline: Beneath the watchful eye of our pros, the youth start sketching their big designs onto the wall or canvas.
Fill-in & Fade: This is where the magic happens! We add vibrant colours and learn how to create cool gradients and transitions.
The final cut: We add the outlines and highlights that make the artwork "pop" and look professional.
Photo op & Wrap-up: We celebrate the finished masterpiece with a group photo and a debrief on the skills learned during the day.

Local culture

Winterthur has a long-standing reputation as a city of culture, but it’s not all traditional museums and galleries. The city's industrial heritage, specifically around areas like the Sulzerareal, provides a gritty, authentic vibe that resonates perfectly with street art culture. In Winterthur, graffiti isn't just seen as "paint on walls"—it's a valued part of the local creative fabric. 🎨

Fun Fact: Did you know that Winterthur is often called the "City of Museums," but it also hosts some of the most impressive legal graffiti walls in Switzerland? It's a place where the old-school industry meets modern urban creativity every single day! ✨

Pricing

Our graffiti workshops for youth projects are designed to be accessible and high-impact. Pricing for sessions in Winterthur generally falls between:

CHF40 – CHF85 per person

Please note that the final price depends on your total group size, the duration of the project, and whether we paint on a fixed wall or individual canvases. We believe in transparency and value—no hidden costs, and you only pay after the workshop is complete! 💰
