Is graffiti spray painting safe for primary school children?

Absolutely! Safety is our top priority for primary school workshops in Ruse. We use high-quality, low-odour water-based spray paints whenever possible, and every student is provided with protective gloves, masks, and aprons. Our professional artists are onsite to supervise the entire process, ensuring a controlled environment where kids can express themselves safely and confidently while learning the ropes of street art.

How long does a typical school workshop last?

A standard workshop usually lasts between 90 minutes and 2 hours. This is the 'sweet spot' for keeping younger children engaged without them getting overly tired. We start with a quick introduction and sketching session, followed by the main painting event. We can also adjust the timing to fit into your school’s lesson blocks or after-school activity schedules if needed.

Do the children need prior drawing skills?

Not at all! You don't need to be a 'mini Picasso' to join in. Our workshops are designed for all skill levels. We guide the children through simple techniques, from making basic lines to filling in shapes. It’s all about the experience, building confidence, and having a blast with colours. Everyone leaves with something they are proud of, regardless of their artistic background.

Where in Ruse do the workshops take place?

We are very flexible! We can set up mobile graffiti walls or use large canvases in your school playground, gym, or even a well-ventilated hall. If you'd prefer to take the kids on a trip, we can also arrange sessions at various legal street art locations around Ruse. We bring all the materials to you, making it a completely hassle-free experience for the teachers.

What happens if it rains on the day of the workshop?

We’ve got you covered! While Ruse is known for its beautiful sunny days, we always have a backup plan. If we are booked for an outdoor session and the weather turns, we can move the workshop indoors using protective floor coverings and low-spray techniques, or we can reschedule the date. We ensure that the creative flow never stops, rain or shine!

Can the students keep their artwork?

The kids generally get to keep what they create! If we work on individual canvases or boards, each student can take their masterpiece home to show their family. For larger collaborative mural projects where the whole class works on one big piece, the school gets to keep the artwork to brighten up a hallway, classroom, or playground wall as a lasting memory.

What is the recommended group size?

For primary school groups, we recommend a ratio of one professional artist per 15 to 20 students. This ensures that every child gets enough individual attention and guidance. For very large groups or entire year groups, we simply bring more artists from our team and set up multiple 'creative stations' to keep the energy high and the queues short!

The experience

Why choose a graffiti workshop for your Ruse students? It’s more than just painting on walls—it’s about developing life skills through a medium they actually find 'cool'! 🔥

Boosts creative confidence: There are no mistakes in street art, only 'happy accidents' that help kids find their own style.
Encourages collaboration: Working on a large-scale mural teaches students how to communicate and work together toward a shared goal. 🤝
Safe & professional: We use age-appropriate materials and follow strict safety protocols, giving you peace of mind.
Physical & fun: It’s a great way to get kids moving and working with their hands outside of a traditional classroom setting.
Promotes artistic respect: We teach the difference between street art and vandalism, fostering respect for public spaces in Ruse. 🏛️
Stress-free for teachers: We handle the setup, the teaching, and the cleanup!

Step by step

Introduction & safety briefing: We start by introducing our professional artists and explaining the safety rules to the kids. Everyone gets geared up in their protective kits!
The basics of b-boy lettering: Before touching a can, we teach the students about the history of graffiti and how to sketch their first 'tag' or 'throw-up' on paper.
Can control 101: We demonstrate how to hold the spray can, how to control the pressure, and how to create different effects like skinny lines or fat fades.
Practice run: The children get to try out their first sprays on a practice wall to get a feel for the distance and speed required for clean lines.
Designing the masterpiece: Whether it's a personal canvas or a big school mural, the kids start sketching their final designs directly onto the surface.
The filling stage: This is where the magic happens! The kids choose their favourite colours and fill in their designs, learning about colour blending and layering.
Outlining and details: Our artists help the students add sharp outlines and highlights to make their artwork 'pop' off the wall.
Final reveal & photos: We finish with a group photo session where the students can show off their completed work. It's a real 'wow' moment!
